  1. Can we get back on topic about candidates for the Holmes job. I think this is a great opportunity for a coach to bring Cov Holmes back to an elite program in NKY.
  2. I agree it is too much. When you say $12 is not that much different than $19 it doesn’t seem like it, but when you are buying multiple tickets it does add up. 4 tickets @$12 is $48. 4 tickets @ $19 is $76. That is a huge difference and do that for 2 sessions for 1 day and you have spent an extra $56. That is another session worth of tickets. They have to reduce the cost if they want families to come.
  3. Also, take into account all the media timeouts, 25 minutes between games and 15 minute halftime and there is too much downtime. People want entertainment and excitement. Cut cost and cut down time and keep it moving. People will come. People will definitely come.
  4. The reality is it is all about cost and experience. I am a diehard high school basketball fan. I coached hs boys and girls and love the State Tournament. I have taken 2 of my kids to the tournament every year for the last 10 years. We went Thursday night, Friday night, Saturday and Sunday. Hotel room for 3 nights $470. Then $57 a session (3 seats) $228 for 4 sessions. I spent $700 before we ate any food or paid for any parking. For the week $1000 and my wife didn’t go. That is just too much for the common fan.
  5. I could see the Browns taking Barkley at 1 and another impact player at 4 and taking either Mayfield or Jackson with their 1st 2nd rd pick.
  6. Sometimes you just need to give credit to the other team. Remember only 1 team wins their last game.
  7. WV went 22-26 from FT LINE. Had a couple bad turnovers. Have to give Anderson Co credit. They made some plays in the 4q and shot 10-24 from 3s. Sometimes you just have to give the other team credit
  8. Do teams really struggle in the postseason or is it that only 1 team can win the region? 8 teams make the region. 1 team wins and 7 teams struggle??? Sometimes you just need to give credit to the other team.
  9. My son text me about it this morning. He didn’t say if the players and staff had a meeting or if they heard it on Twitter. Hate it for all parties.
  10. I think some of it is guys start working so hard in middle school and into high school on their games. They start working out and working with trainers and traveling on the AAU circuit that by the time they get to college they think why I am I doing this? They might still love the game but playing in front of 500 people and no one talking about the results and they just realize there is no end goal. Why do it?
  11. I personally think it is classless to beat a team that bad. I wasn’t there so I don’t know if they pressed or not. I think it is bad if you beat a team by over 60.
  12. When you have been the best player at your school for 4 or 5 years and then go to college and you are not the best it is hard to deal with it. You have to work as hard as you always did and may not reap the benefits of playing time. Some kids just decide it’s not worth it. Great kid. Good luck to him!
  13. Neither team could throw it in the ocean because both teams defense was excellent. I could count on one hand the total of open shots both teams got. Great atmosphere! Great game.
  14. Also, with everyone getting in for postseason in basketball the games can be played in 2 or 3 days. In football it adds at least a week to the season schedule
  15. Do we sometimes over analyze the game? You can call him a tweaner and that certain players games don’t translate to the next level, but how do you really know? I love Calipari and UK basketball, but why would you draft any of the players on this years team in the 1st rd? We have had 2 players (Knox and Gilgeous Alexander) dominate a game or 2. They can’t consistently dominate. Why draft them? If they stayed in college, we would determine there games don’t translate too. The longer we evaluate the more we find wrong.
  16. When I was completing my teaching degree at Xavier I got to spend 40 hours teaching with Clay at Holy Cross. He was a very good man!
  17. That is a good point. I just have a hard time drafting someone early in the draft that I have not seen produce at the college level.
  18. I was just using Bluett as an example. I know someone mentioned Kobe Bryant. How many players have been drafted since Kobe that have failed st the NBA level? That is an extreme case. Wouldn’t it be better to draft a known commodity instead of potential? Especially if you could lose that commodity in 3 years?
  19. Why do most teams in the NBA draft potential instead of production? Rookie contracts are a maximum of 3 years. Why would you draft potential that may not be maximized until year 3 and then they leave. Why don’t you draft a known quantity and get 3 years maximum production. A perfect example of this is Bluett from Xavier. He is a great player that will produce solid numbers in NBA. However, there will be many players drafted ahead of him based on potential.
  20. It is a shame that Bluett will not get drafted til late 1st rd or 2nd rd and some freshman will get drafted on potential. Bluett can play!
  21. Are you watching the UK game right now? Tell me there is freedom of movement in that game. They check the crap out of each other.
