I know you say a school the size of Boyle should have more kids, but I disagree. How many middle schools are there in Boyle Co? Kids probably start getting cut in 6th grade and by the time they get to 9th grade you only have 12 - 15 kids left and that is before the athletes start focusing on just one sport. School size doesn't matter if you don't have multiple middle schools!

What bothers me is that fans are being asked to pay more than $5 for a HS game. Schools want to know why they don't have crowds. This is why! If you have a family of 5, like i do and one of my kids is playing somewhere and i have to pay for the rest of the family to get in, it cost me $16 usually. $5 for 2 adults and $3 for 2 students. Do that 2-4 times in a week for a month (12 times) and i have dropped $192 in a month for HS games. That seems awful expensive to me for families. Fortunately, i am blessed and we can afford it!

Did Coach D resign or was he let go? It is always alarming when you see a school have to hire a baseball coach, boys basketball, and girls basketball all in the same year.

I have not seen a roster. When i coached in the game the roster was determined by votes: 5 5th Region, 5 6th Region, vs 5 7th Region, and 5 8th Region. I co-coached the 7th and 8th Region team and i got to make 1 more player selection and the 7th region coach got to make 1 player selection. Team was made up of 12 players.

It is a dying breed, but also schools and communities are not loyal to coaches anymore.

I am coaching Shining Stars 17 U at got a call Monday night from a HS coach and he offered me 2 players that could play this weekend. He told me that they would definitely help my team. Knowing the 2 players, they would definitely make my team better, but i refused to take them and take time away from the boys that made a commitment to me and our organization. I don't know if we will win a game or not this weekend, but what would it have said about me, if i would have brought in 2 ringers for one weekend and taken time away from these kids. MY TEAM IS ON FLOOR!

Congratulations to the young man and his family. I had the opportunity to coach against Rodney and he is a good man. Competitive, but a good man. I am sure his son is built in the same mold.

12 is to many!

10 is not doable. What do they charge? People pay money to play not sit. Unless you are elite program kids will not sit and watch. Even then kids have a hard time accepting it. Parents even worse! There are some good players on that roster that should be playing for other teams. Players get better playing not sitting!

Attendance is down for multiple reason, but the biggest reason is cost! THis is what it cost me the last week: Tickets: $500 Hotel Room: $500 Parking: $40 Food & Concession: $300 Gas: $50 Total Cost: $1390 for me and my kids for 5 days of basketball. TOO MUCH!

Part of the issue is cost. The tickets have gone up over the last couple of years and moving the finals to Sunday results in most people needing to get another room. This week I spent $500 on a hotel room for 4 nights, i spent $500 on 4 sets of tickets for me and my kids. I spent $1000 before ever buying food, ice cream, or paying for parking. It is getting to be to expensive for the common fan to come and enjoy themselves. They have to figure out a way to cut the cost for fans.

I like the idea of 2 16 minute halves. However, i would keep half-time to 10 minutes. Most players can't sit still long enough to listen to their coach for 10, i can't imagine 15 minutes.

I will be there for the whole tournament. Taking my kids with me for the whole week just like every year! Son is a junior and we have gone together ever since he was in Kindergarden. Great week of hoops and bonding for me and my kids! LOVE IT!

I agree. This does not help Grant County. However I LOVE having the Regional Tournament at Henry County. The ATMOSPHERE on Semi-final night is AWESOME!
