Sunday afternoon High School basketball final games should be reserved for AAU or Elementary School tournaments and even then I have reservations. This is just me, but I like basketball finals of a night. Just wish they would start a day early,have the semis Friday night at 7:00 and 9:00,finals Saturday night at 8:00. Am sure this has been a thread numerous times, was there a reason given for Sunday afternoons? The early sessions are obviously struggling attendance wise with the afternoon games, any way of having everything of a night, except for Friday afternoon?

I agree with this. I'd prefer to have the finals on Saturday night instead of Sunday afternoon.

Then start tourney on Tuesday. I'm in favor for only playing one game on the day of the championship.

Amen. Playing semis and finals on same day is...and I will put this nicely...not smart and doesn't make for good basketball. I like the one game game finals and hope they keep it for the sake of the kids and better basketball.

When spring gets here I have a hard time even watching March Madness games in the afternoon when the sun is out and temps are reasonable(usually DVR and if game is not close, I don't even watch) You give me a cloudy/rainy afternoon and I am a couch potato like no other. Same goes for gyms and afternoon games. Late March thru June is hard to be in a gym on a sunny afternoon. Don't see how all these AAU kids and parents play and sit in gyms during afternoons over these next couple of months, these months are baseball/track/softball/spring football/golf months. Basketball is a long enough season the way it is from August(open gyms and conditioning) thru February.

Second, playing two games in a day is nothing for most of these kids because if they are playing AAU ball they are playing at least 2 games in one day once they are out of pool play in most tournaments and 99% of the time in a much shorter time span. IMO, bring it back.

I haven't been since they switched it to Sunday but I thought the double duty on Saturday was something really special. As a fan I greatly prefer that format.

Today will be a good test to that. The first year they had Madison Central and attendance was great. Last year was Scott County and Covington Catholic, both with huge followings. This is the first time the game has pitted two teams not from reasonably close to Lexington.

Attendance today is 11,435
