Rumor has it that the former coach may be out? Is there any truth to this? Does anyone have any leads on who may take the job?

I sincerely hope that whoever takes the job shows a wholehearted interest in putting this team in a position to perform at their maximum ability and doesn't simply go through the motions.

 

We all know that the Cougars have been undermanned as of late, BUT teaching them proper technique would be a giant step forward in putting them in a better position to better compete at the NKAC Division III level.

 

Little things like valuing possession of the ball, incorporating pass fakes and shot fakes, fouling with disgression, etc., would all be a giant leap forward from what has transpired there for the past several years.

 

My personal thoughts after watching the Cougars play these past couple of years with no rhyme or reason to what it is they are doing or trying to accomplish, has been - "This team doesn't have to be this bad."

 

I honestly do hope that whoever takes the job has the know-how to get these things done, and puts forth a solid coaching effort.

Any truth to it? They had a couple of players that I saw in the All A last year that looked like they had some potential.

Didn't Calvary just hire a top notch Baseball Coach this past season? Maybe they will be able to get either a top notch older coach out of retirement or a young guy with enthusiasm. How is the school system itself?

Baseball coach was an assistant at Bellevue. If Coach Douthit is gone, he's probably heading to Ryle to take the girls job.

Coach D is gone, confirmed it with him at Italian Fest a few weeks ago. Calvary is also looking for a girls coach as Coach M is out.

 

I agree with Mustang. There are some raw individuals that could do a lot better with some discipline and an offensive scheme. Hard to watch at times.

Douthit knows his stuff when it comes to coaching individuals and fundamentals. Who would they get to go to that small of school that would be even as good?

Did Coach D resign or was he let go? It is always alarming when you see a school have to hire a baseball coach, boys basketball, and girls basketball all in the same year.

It's a very small, private Christian school, with limited resources, facilities and a small student athlete pool to draw from. They also play in a district with Scott, Campbell County, and Brossart...three consistently tough teams in all three of those sports. It's going to be a tough place to win and retain coaches. I don't think coaching turnover is a reflection of anything wrong with the school or administration....just a reflection of being in a tough situation athletically.

15-69 over his 3 seasons at Calvary. Not very good numbers by any standards. Although they are in a extremely tough district. Have their backs to the wall season in and season out. Tough gig for any potential coach.

As for finding someone, this would be a good opportunity for an up and comer to get their first crack at a head coaching position. Tough place to coach based on numbers alone and CCS primary focus is not on athletics. Great institution for all the right reasons.

There's probably a few 10th region assistants looking at this job to get their feet wet.
