Mayfield's OOWP is really really bad as compared to LCA and BW. Their SOS is nowhere near that of BW. Arguably LCA has the toughest SOS based on our out of conference schedule. Now, LCA will enter November 7-3 or 6-4 while BW will enter 9-1 and MF highly likely at 10-0. Projected OOWP for LCA is 59 - 41. BW 54-46. MF 39-61. Mathematically assuming BW doesn't implode they have already sealed the #1 RPI in 2A. The battle will be for 2 and 3 with a long bus ride for someone. With that said LCA has not done themselves any favors the last 2 weeks largely due to the injury bug. Good news is none of those injuries are season ending and the buy week is just around the corner.

A recent grad from LCA said that his position group room in college included a 22 and 24 year old both being juniors. It's not just HS it's college too.

Going with Belfry here. I think the whopping at LCA is a wake up call. I'm sure Haywood is making some adjustments this week. Give me Belfry 21 - Central 14.

Cutter Boley - LCA through 3 games and only 8 quarters 51 of 73 for 1021 yards - 340.3 yds/g 9 TD's to 2 picks 12 rush for 62 yards and 2 TD's

Belfry is young and they will improve each week. The tough part with those guys is if your defense can stop the run. A lot defenses out there can’t stop 4-5 yards per carry which will benefit Belfry in the end. Two things die in November, dogs who play in the road and teams who can’t run the ball.

This is an interesting one that will tell a lot about both programs, I think? Dunbar has been really really bad for a while now. Beating the teams they should beat and getting curb stomped by better programs. Wofo has played a very soft regular season schedule for a while now which has helped them get wins under their belt. Their run in the postseason was impressive but losing Geiler and Patterson is a big deal. I don't know what to make of Dunbar's near upset of MC last week. With MC missing 4 starters which included Hensley and Kenyatta it's hard to tell. This game will give us a lot of insight as to where both programs stand.

Big test for LCA. The Eagles gave the Pirates all they wanted in 2020 in Pond Creek with the Pirates pulling it out in the 4th qtr. In 2021 covid gave the win to LCA. Now the Pirates travel to LCA for the rubber match. Big test for both defenses. Can the Eagle defense stop the running attack of the Pirates? Can the Pirates stop the passing attack of the Eagles? Should be a great challenge for both teams and definitely a November prep game.

I think Pikeville would take that take that challenge. They play LCA every year.

WoFo has never scheduled a tough out of district schedule and it does hurt them in November. I think moving forward, 2023, you will see bigger marque matchups in their schedule. Not only do they need it for RPI and playoff prep but they also need it for their kids recruitment. Put them on the big stage against other Jimmys and Joes with offers.

I think this may be the number 1 match up tonight of 2021 post season teams. LCA state finals and MC state semi's.

It will be interesting to see if FD can contain the Station QB. I think his feet are the biggest threat. If he can open up some passing ops with his feet they may have a chance to keep things interesting, if not I'll take FD by 3 TD's.

Varsity play in just under 3 qtrs LCA 40 - SO 0. Final with JV 47-13.

I often question their preseason poll but this one is comical.

What defines a great program? Is it just trophies? Or is the development of young men to help them achieve their goals and aspirations? If it’s trophies then perhaps FD has fallen short. If it’s the development of young men and to help them achieve their goals and aspirations then they are among the best in the state. Coach Landis laid the foundation and I believe Coach McPeek has done an outstanding job.

LCA 21 - 7 in three qtrs at Bryan Station. Boley looked the part. Drew Nieves will have a special season at WR. Chaney and Brown were lock down at corners. LCA defense with 2 picks and numerous sacks looked solid. Rebuilt LB core was solid and D line rotation was on point. Great first tune up for the Eagles. Station looks the part and is physical. QB has good wheels but the big question mark is their receiving core and secondary coverage. But hey that’s what these scrimmages are for. Great video to build from.

On the topic of graduating early…if the kid has the grades and has full-filled his her obligations why not? I think it’s great of a kid can get to college a semester early and get settled. Colleges let you graduate early if you have full-filled your obligations so why not HS? My son could have graduated in December but our school does not allow it. His senior spring semester in HS was a waste of time IMO. He was bored out of his mind.

A few additional names to watch from LCA: LCA - c/o 24 Parker Chaney - Corner/Safety. Chaney has started for LCA as a freshman on two highly talented teams and has lead the team in interceptions his first two years. Chaney has an extremely high football IQ and covers like high dollar paint. LCA - c/o 23 Evan Brown - corner - Evan is the younger brother of Xavier Brown (UVA). Evan is a lock down corner and will come down hill a lay a hit. Having Parker and Brown in the secondary is a big weapon for LCA this season especially as the LB core has a totally new identity following the graduation of Morris (Navy), Selby (Murray State) and Hammond (North Central). Both Chaney and Brown are big contributors on the offensive side of the ball as well. LCA - Jay Emerson - c/o 23 - RB/DL. Jay is a load at RB - 6’1” 235 with power, speed and agility. It takes several would-be tacklers to bring Jay down. Jay will lead a stable of running backs on Reynolds Rd this season.

LCA won the lineman challenge by 1 point over FD according to what I am told. LCA 7v7. LCA defeated Bryan Station, Boyle and Paducah Tilghman in pool play. In tourney play they defeated Frankfort, Pikeville, Paducah Tilghman and Dunbar. Lost a close one in the ship against Highlands. Went down to the last play. Congrats to HHS and all the schools who participated. I hope everyone made it out healthy and got out of it what they needed to.
