  1. I don't think anyone is saying LCA and Beechwood are a "shoo in"...However, I watched a lot of film on Mayfield last year preparing for Murray. Both of the games between Murray and Mayfield were close in 2020 (21-20 & 28-21) w/ the series being split. LCA absolutely beat the breaks off of Murray 48-13 in the state semifinals. I know Mayfield has tradition and a great staff but based on film and results they have to get a lot better to hang with LCA and Beechwood. At this point Mayfield is a solid number 3. The big question is who is number 4 at this point? It's a long season anything could happen. Mayfield vs classification: 5A,4A,3A,6A,4A,2A,2A,2A,2A,4A = 32/60 Current record - 3-0 Opponent combined record as of week 3 = 9-19 (win % 32%) OOWP = .33 RPI = 0.499 (through 3 games)
  2. Why would LCA take an RPI win against Belfry and gamble it against JC? JC plays 3 or 4 out-of-state teams which only give you 50% RPI win or lose. Belfry is having a not so characteristic season but they will get it together which will help LCA's RPI. If LCA needs to pick up RPI they could always pick up a game during their buy week but it wouldn't be JC it would probably be a 5A or 6A team. If this were the case it would nullify the covid win against Belfry. It has nothing to do with not wanting to play tough competition. LCA's first 6 games: at Madison Central at Boyle at Belfry at CAL Lex Cath Pikeville That's pretty stout for a 2A program right there...
  3. LCA vs Classification: - 6A,4A,3A,3A,4A,1A,2A,2A,2A,6A = 33/60 Current record - 3-0 Opponent combined record as of week 3 = 17-13 (win % 57%) OOWP = .67 RPI = .701 (through 3 games) Beechwood vs Classification: - 5A,1A,2A,6A,5A,6A,2A,2A,2A,1A = 32/60 Current record - 3-0 Opponent combined record as of week 3 = 9-20 (win % 31%) OOWP = .33 RPI = .482 (through 3 games) I think it did this correctly lol...
  4. The next 3 weeks should give a clear picture of 1-2-3 seeds. If LCA beats CAL, Lex Cath & Pikeville they will have a sizable lead as it pertains to RPI and should be the #1 seed come week 1 playoffs baring some type of major implosion with their remaining games following this 3 game gauntlet. Beechwood and Mayfield’s remaining schedules should see them win out. Beechwood with 2 seed and Mayfield with 3 seed ultimately. The million dollar question is the 4 seed…IMO it’s not Danville and it’s not Somerset. Murray? Middlesboro? Walton Verona?
  5. Tickets go on sale Friday morning at 10am. Link to ticket sales is below. This game will be well attended to say the least. Glad these boys get to play in an atmosphere like this. It will be a good game.
  6. Two things that die in November dogs who play in the road and teams who can't run the ball.
  7. LCA's defense was dominant while the offense struggled. They will get the kinks worked out you know that. Mad Central was very physical and will surprise some people this year if they don't prepare. Great opening matchup for both teams.
  8. Just got word that West Jessamine cancelled with Dunbar - SMH
  9. I am sure LCA will be interested in this one too since they play at CAL week 4. They took care of South Oldham quite handily last Friday night in 3 quarters of scrimmage. The new spread look will take some time to get down. Tough opponent out of the gate for sure based on CAL's tradition. But other than tradition not much to go on. The film won't lie though on Saturday morning!
  10. Somerset is not the Somerset of the past several years and Danville's trying to find it's identify again with a new HC. No doubt these teams will not go down without a fight and are well coached.
  11. FDU by a lot. Bryan Station is still a couple of years away from the top but definitely headed in the right direction. I'm a fan of what Coach Hawkins is building over there.
  12. Kids have to be careful as you can over hydrate. My son drinks one bottle of gatorade or poweraide for every 1/2 gallon of water.
  13. LCA has to be near the top even as a 2A program. They return 10 of 11 starters from last year's state runner up team. Their LB core is rock solid with Tyler Morris (Navy commit), Jeffery Selby, Will Nichols and Elijah Hammonds. Senior Morris 6'1" 205 SOLB is a hybrid kid w/ freakish athletic ability that can play in the box, off the edge and cover - 4.3 40 and 38" vert. Senior Selby is a prototype MLB - 6' 230 with an extremely high football IQ and a punisher of a tackler. Senior Hammonds WOLB at 6'2 215 also possesses an extremely hi football IQ and makes plays all over the field. Junior Nichols is the new kid on the block and will fill in nicely at WLB with a keen nose for the ball. Up front LCA took the biggest hit with the loss of two senior defensive linemen. However they do return Anthony Johns (EKU commit) at 6'3 280 Johns has proven to dominate the LOS. In addition NG JB Drake returns and has mastered his craft in the off season. Transfer Jay Emerson 6'2" 235 is a Dline coaches dream w/ fast hands, fast feat and a nasty attitude to get to the ball. It will be no surprise to see LCA near the top statically in sacks and TFL's this season. In the secondary, LCA is anchored by Miami of OH commit SS Mason Moore. Mason is a master at his craft and is the best in the business in the state of KY. Junior corner Evan Brown is poised for a breakout banner year. He put in the time with Carlos Collins and P2P over during the spring and has an outstanding summer camp. He is definitely and name to watch for. Opposite of Brown is Soph Parker Chaney. Chaney turned heads and garnered D1 interest as a freshman leading LCA with 6 INT's last year. Parker is a fast, smart, physical corner who can cover anyone in the state. At free safety is Sr Chance McGaughey. In true FS style Chance loves to bring the boom and seems to always be in the right place at the right time. LCA will be fun to watch on both sides of the ball.
