CAL will win hands down - slick turf or not lol

Looks like CAL should get home field advantage for the playoffs - do your kids a favor and buy some turf cleats or wear tennis shoes. Their turf is extremely slick and almost impossible for skill or edge rushers to cut in cleats. I heard they are replacing it soon but until then you have been warned. Nike makes some good ones called Huarache (Lacrosse) and Vapor Untouchable Turf 2. You better order now and not wait till the week before.

Glasgow is #2 in 3A RPI - CAL would run clock them in the 1st half.

I think the jury is still out on WC IMO...weak schedule outside of FC game. However, I believe FC was without their starting QB and Morrmon was playing but hurt. They have some pieces, including their QB Patterson. He's always had a great arm but Johnson never would throw the ball...I think he finally figured it out and taking advantage of it. They are pounding bad teams which they should do so who knows...I do know that they are not a legit 4th in the TP94 - several teams behind them that would give them a lot of smoke. The West Jess game in on Prepspin Youtube so you can watch their most recent game. West Jess is absolutely terrible and they pounded them into the turf.

Same for LCA - district is way down. Typically they would be battling Somerset and before that Danville. Traditionally the toughest district in 2A. Odd year. I think it finishes out - LCA - Danville - Washington - Somerset. The Washington / Danville game could be interesting for 2nd. LCA finishes up with 6A Henry Clay who is way down this year as well.

How much better is Mayfield than last year? They struggled to split with Murray last year and then LCA beat the breaks off of Murray in state semi's.

Does it really matter who is ranked where in the polls other than RPI? Barring some type of major major upset or covid loss in the next 4 games the 2A RPI from 1-2-3 is not going to change. Beechwood can go ahead and book their busses to War Memorial this week.

Mad Central was a physical well coached team that will make a lot noise in November and for the next few years. They are big, young and fast. LCA's offense was in the red zone 5 or 6 times that night and came up empty.

I like them being number 2 - keeps them hungry lol. Also, I think you keep your seat at the throne until someone knocks you off if it in most cases.

LCA's opponent record to date is 15-9 (5 of the losses come from Belfry which isn't typical for them). If you add in this week with Pikeville the record is 20-9. They have played and beat the #1 ranked team in 4A, the #1 ranked team in 3A, the #2 ranked team in 4A and will face the #1 ranked team in 1A this week. Not to mention beating a 6A Madison Central team that is surprising everyone at this point.

By my calcs - if all three win out there will no changes which would mean Beechwood would be heading west to play Mayfield in the semi's. Interested to see who rises to claim the 4 spot too...although I am not sure anyone outside of the top 3 could stay on the field with either one of them (just being honest).

KSR game of the week I believe

I took some time two weeks ago to project out the RPI assuming LCA, Beechwood and Mayfield win out. LCA - .722 Beechwood - .602 Mayfield - .602 The only thing I didn’t do (not sure how) is factor in the SOS factor for class. However, the average class of opponent for each team is almost identical so it may not mater as it pertains to the top seed but may be a factor between who travels and who doesn’t for the 2 & 3. LCA - 3.3A Beechwood & Mayfield - 3.2A Does the first official RPI rankings come out this week?

They already are in the discussion - the only thing that matters though to them is the 2A standings. If they beat Pikeville next week they will all but lock in the #1 RPI / seed for the playoffs.

Lot's of eyeballs on this one...Anyone know how to watch it?

I don't think Peach is that kind of coach...IMO the Danville SB makes all the decisions good bad or indifferent.

I think some kids like Xavier Brown and Mason Moore will emerge from LCA. The covid win at Belfry last week hurt their stats. If your looking at play on both sides of the ball Mason Moore has to be in the conversation. Kid does it all...Interesting list and glad to see some new names added to the mix and some familiar names not in the mix. One thing I try to do to when evaluating a player is to compare the level of competition they are playing against. A lot of kids can show out against marginal opponents.

RPI through week 3: LCA - .701 Mayfield - .499 Beechwood - .482 Again, I think I am doing this correctly lol.

I don't think anyone is saying LCA and Beechwood are a "shoo in"...However, I watched a lot of film on Mayfield last year preparing for Murray. Both of the games between Murray and Mayfield were close in 2020 (21-20 & 28-21) w/ the series being split. LCA absolutely beat the breaks off of Murray 48-13 in the state semifinals. I know Mayfield has tradition and a great staff but based on film and results they have to get a lot better to hang with LCA and Beechwood. At this point Mayfield is a solid number 3. The big question is who is number 4 at this point? It's a long season anything could happen. Mayfield vs classification: 5A,4A,3A,6A,4A,2A,2A,2A,2A,4A = 32/60 Current record - 3-0 Opponent combined record as of week 3 = 9-19 (win % 32%) OOWP = .33 RPI = 0.499 (through 3 games)
