  • What is great about this game is that eventually Mayfield and Beechwood will have to settle in on the field. Whether that is in NKY or war memorial. RPI’s, rankings, schedules and the opinions of old

Actually 6-15.  And Mayfield has played one team with a winning record. This week they play winless Fort Campbell.

  • There are still a lot of moving parts to the RPI. If Beechwood beats Dixie, and Dixie wins the majority of their remaining games, along with Cov Cath and Fairdale stock piling 5A wins down the stretch

Great job every week on this…as for me, i would have LCA at number 1 and Beechwood at number 2.

It is razor thin by our calculations.

RPI:

1 Lexington Christian 2A 4 5 - 0     5 1.33859 .92339 .59732 .97089
2 Mayfield 2A 1 5 - 0     5 1.41275 .54821 .66129 .88473
3 Beechwood 2A 6 5 - 0     5 1.33202 .43184 .68495 .82284
4 Green County 2A 3 4 - 0     5 .98994 .54372 .53822 .69825
5 Butler County 2A 2 3 - 1     5 .97272 .48487 .60024 .69023
6 Middlesboro 2A 7 5 - 0     5 .92584 .53189 .51696 .66529
7 McLean County 2A 2 4 - 1     5 1.00828 .32537 .59928 .64657
8 Hancock County 2A 2 4 - 1     5 1.11243 .17398 .55772 .61756
9 Murray 2A 1 2 - 1     5 .69441 .61270 .49731 .60668
10 Caldwell County 2A 1 3 - 2     5 .66838 .49844 .57020 .57945

By my calcs - if all three win out there will no changes which would mean Beechwood would be heading west to play Mayfield in the semi's. Interested to see who rises to claim the 4 spot too...although I am not sure anyone outside of the top 3 could stay on the field with either one of them (just being honest).

Pretty awesome to see Green County ranked that high. Its been a long time coming. Super proud of our kids and coaching staff. The Dragons look to be on course to battle Metcalfe for the district title.

I commented on this in the Danville game thread, but I'm looking forward to this Friday's game.  Will be a good test of where the Ads stand.

True. We can't help that.

Beechwood has played none with a winning record.  And they played two teams that have won 0 games.

6-17 by Maxpreps.

Mayfield has played two teams who have 1 win.

And Beechwood can't help that either. They scheduled the defending state champ in 1A. They scheduled a team that was undefeated in the regular season in 5A. They scheduled the team that beat Mayfield in the state title game two years ago. They scheduled a 6A team that has a long string of winning records and has been right around the top 10 in 6A the last 5-8 years. They scheduled one of the top 2 teams in 5A over the past 5 years who has won multiple state titles.

Bottom line, Mayfield's strength of schedule is the same as Beechwood's.

Bottom line, Mayfield has played a better schedule. All in all it doesn't matter what teams have done in the past. Beechwood at this point will play one team with a winning record, NCC which is 3-2. Now to be fair, Beechwood scheduled those teams thinking they were going to give them a challenge but we really don't know how good Beechwood is. Good team or Great team.

What is great about this game is that eventually Mayfield and Beechwood will have to settle in on the field. Whether that is in NKY or war memorial. RPI’s, rankings, schedules and the opinions of old men like us won’t matter. Just the play of some teenage kids. Not message boarders crunching numbers.

That's right. But it's fun anyway.

Not true. Strength of schedule for the two is the same.

Beechwood SOS 1.3

Mayfield SOS 1.7

In two weeks, Beechwood's SOS will be better than Mayfield's.

That is true strength of schedule - not KHSAA RPI, which is its own creature.
