All I know is that if Mayfield holds that #2 spot in the RPI playing them in November at War Memorial is not an easy task.  Most cases you are down 14 points before the opening kickoff.

From what I have been told from a few people is that if Beechwood wins out they will hold onto  the 2 seed by a very slim margin.

  • What is great about this game is that eventually Mayfield and Beechwood will have to settle in on the field. Whether that is in NKY or war memorial. RPI’s, rankings, schedules and the opinions of old

Actually 6-15.  And Mayfield has played one team with a winning record. This week they play winless Fort Campbell.

  • There are still a lot of moving parts to the RPI. If Beechwood beats Dixie, and Dixie wins the majority of their remaining games, along with Cov Cath and Fairdale stock piling 5A wins down the stretch

Not sure that's the case if they both win out because Mayfield has one more game above their 2A-class than Beechwood does. (Mayfield 2 and Beechwood 1) It's my understanding that the computer puts more emphasis on winning above your class than winning in your own class, no matter the records.

Who knows though. I hope these two get to matchup in November whether in NKY or 4 hours south.

Bottom line is this, Beechwood’s biggest game on their schedule is the Dixie game. If they lose that game, they can forget about any chance of hosting a semifinal game.

Right, so Beechwood fans should be rooting for a glorious Dixie win over Highlands because Beechwood plays Dixie the following week.

I agree that Beechwood is better than last year by far. I don’t want to disrespect West Carter. They played very well. I think what I was referring and should have made a little clearer is Mayfield won’t be a easy place to have a bad performance to win at. I would assume didn’t it rain in that game at West Carter last year that may have contributed to the play? I think Mayfield is playing good football this year. I also think Beechwood and LCA are playing heads better than last year. Hope we see the sequel.

I really don't know about the rpi. But as Mr Wyngz  said, Mayfield has one more game above it's class than Beechwood does. And Beechwood doesn't want to head south.

Better pace yourself Mr Snake, lot of season left to go and if this all shakes out as you want, they are gonna need your help hosing down that field in preparation for slowing Beechwood again. By the way, any Hilton’s down there?  I’m booking a room now. ??

Dixie will have additional support from Louden Swain. GOO COLONELS!!!!

I’m sure it’s tough to win there but ask Murray about that last year.

Or we can just ask Beechwood how it worked out in 2019 when they came down to War Memorial.  Or I can just tell ya they lost 35-7.

You can always stay at the Four Seasons.

Again, slowing down Beechwood? HA, we want to speed up the field.

One year later...

No one can accept that little ol' West Carter, the heart of defunct Beckham Co., could compete with the Mayberrys and Beachballs of the world.

I was shocked last year that West Carter about beat Beechwood. Mayfield is way better than West Carter.

Credit to West Carter but that was far from Beechwood's best.  And the 2021 Tigers are easily 21 points better than the 2020 Tigers.

That's also why you don't want to be on the road for the playoffs.

I agree but to a large extent everyone is at the mercy of an inadequate RPI system.

That isn’t my point. My point is that you said Mayfield is unbeatable there when they aren’t.

This is what I said;

"All I know is that if Mayfield holds that #2 spot in the RPI playing them in November at War Memorial is not an easy task.  Most cases you are down 14 points before the opening kickoff."

I would like for you to highlight the word unbeatable in that statement if you could for me.
