  1. Well this leads to speculation about him taking another job (Daviess maybe) or if he is going to move into another teaching or admistrative role. I know a lot of young coaches that have spun their wheels as a young coach and have been ready to move out of coaching at a relatively young age to focus more time to family which is completley understandable. Good luck to Coach Clark in his future!
  2. Mayfield for having one of the most storied and accomplished programs in the nation, has a group of the most hyper senisitive fans. Not all Card fans are that way but a big group are. Who cares what a homer radio show says. Of course they are going to say those things on an Owenboro show. I don't undertsand getting so bent out of shape every time someone doesn't pick your team. Red helmet video is going to be pro Mayfield as you would expect. An OC radio show is going to hype up OC.
  3. We as fans fall into the trap of comparing past games from 10 weeks ago and looking at stats, etc. Past years scores are even crazier. I guess we have to have something to compare and argue about though lol. This is its own game and its for all the marbles. Mayfield is the favorite, but OC is more than capable of winning. Past games against common opponents will have nothing to do with the game.
  4. IMO if OC is to win this game it will be beacuse their defense played their best game a limited Starks, and their offense had 0 turnovers. If they can do that, the Aces will have a chance. If not, then I don't think it's happening.
  5. Hatchell is an administrator at Mayfield right? Would Graves give him an admin job/pay as well as allowing him to be the head coach. That is not typically a thing you see. I do think he would be a great choice as a coach but not sure he wants to leave his Mayfield admin job.
  6. I think this will be a close game. I give Atwell that much respect. OC can absolutely not turn the ball over. The game is away from War Memorial, it’s on carpet which should make OC more comfortable. I doubt it, but will Mayfield play more tense this week? Knowing that they are the favorites, having not won at Kroger and a little drought by Mayfield standards. I’m sure the last 3 weeks have taken a physical and emotional toll on Mayfield but I expect them to get the job done because that’s what they should do.
  7. I respect your opinion. If there was closer to two minutes left I would have definitely been aggressive. Personally I would have been more conservative with 80 yards and less than a minute. Unfortunately Beechwood made the one mistake you couldn’t do. They went out swinging and made a great comeback. Hayden is an excellent QB. I will say if I had Lance Harbor, I would have gone for the score late. With Johnny Moxon, not a chance.
  8. Congrats Mayfield! IMO BW made a massive mistake just not taking it to overtime after a huge fumble from Mayfield. Mayfield makes you pay for mistakes so bad especially at home. This game reminded me of the ending of the Iowa and Nebraska game today. I’ve seen so many high school coaches get ultra aggressive right at the end of the half or end of the game when things are going pretty good. Then a massive turnover happens that cost them a game or tons of momentum. The pros do it on tv with unbelievably talented QB’s and kickers that can hit from 50. In high school when you have 80 yards to go and less than a minute, just take it OT. BW had the momentum.
  9. I don’t understand at all when coaches just don’t take it to half or take it to overtime. BW got so ambitious and probably cost themselves.
  10. Reminds me of LCA game. Beechwood having a good opening drive then throws a pick. Mayfield makes them pay and pretty much can’t recover from it.
  11. Can’t help but think this wind is gonna effect the passing games.
  12. Mayfield’s bread and butter will be Starks and the run game. Beechwood will live on Hayden and the pass attack. So to me a huge question is which will come through and be more effective: Mayfield’s pass game or Beechwood’s run game. I think it will be Cartwright and Mayfield’s pass attack.
  13. Mayfield has given up yards the past two weeks but has capitalized big time on turnovers. Priority number 1 for Beechwood will be to take care of the ball and not give it Mayfield. If they can do that it will give them a great shot at victory. The Cardinals just find a way at home and make minimal mistakes themselves.
  14. The two kings of Kentucky small school football. All of these two know how to do is win. This one might end up with even more hype than last week IMO. I haven’t seen Beechwood play but I’ve seen their impressive passing game numbers. Do they have much of a running attack? In over the last 20 years, Murray and Danville are the only teams to leave Mayfield with a win in November. Until someone proves me wrong I’m going with The Cards. Mayfield 42 Beechwood 28
  15. My takeaways: - LCA holds and cost them their first TD, and few plays later Boley throws a pick 6. That’s a 14 point swing that set the tone for the night. - Mayfield is a way better coached team. - LCA gave a brutal 3&15 fade route for a td at the worst time. - LCA defense was very unimpressive even with a huge d-line - both rb’s were great but by the end, Starks had the better game. - nobody wins at War Memorial except a select few. - what in the world does LCA do now and what does their coaching staff say? Guess they will need 20 new transfers.
  16. For fans this would be amazing. I'm sure most of these schools are much more comfortable in their own classes where they have a much better chance of winning a championship. Really good 4 and 5 A teams would probably not be in favor of this.
  17. I believe this is true for a variety of reasons as well. Gonna be a big night in Mayfield!
  18. Can't wait to hear some names for this job. Does anyone think this will be an inside hire? Graves is a solid program with some good classes coming up.
  19. I’m in agreement that Boyle is probably the best team in the state but I believe this will be close and a classic. I have too much respect for the Corbin defense. Boyle 24 Corbin 21
