I'm very interested in seeing how they do vs. Apollo. Historically, I would pick Murray, but this year I think this match-up is very intriguing.

That is a very good schedule for Murray.  I fully expect them to be a force in the 3A West this season and for as long as they are in 3A.  I can see them and Union County battling it out and making consistent runs deep into the playoffs.

I just don't think this is a tough schedule. I can see 8-2, 9-1 or even 10-0.

Apollo will be good not sure how good?

Graves loses their best WR ( he didn't play against us), but the RB is really good. I was shocked we beat them 42-7.

Union County loses a whole bunch of players from their state runner up team.

McCracken might be their only loss. Not sure I know a whole lot about them I really can't say either way.

I tend to think along the line you are. When I came across their schedule I saw a lot of W's for Murray.

That's not to say that I think it's an absolute cupcake schedule, but I don't think it's much of a doozy either. I guess we'll see how it pays off for the Tigers once they step into 3Q playoff action.

I told someone they wouldn't play Mayfield.  What a joke.

Maybe but it sure is built right for the RPI which is what I mean by a good schedule.  Multiple 5A and a 6A team.  I think Apollo will be good this season, McCracken is improving every year, and I think Graves will be better than a lot of people think.  The game that doesn't make sense is the Russellville game.  They could have scheduled much tougher for that game.  100% should have kept Mayfield on the schedule.

I agree. I think Apollo could give them a game because I didn't realize Murray came to Owensboro. Apollo QB has been getting a lot of attention. Watching our Apollo game last year, I felt they had control in our game but the bad snaps over punters head really hurt and gave us 14 points. Just not sure which team shows up for them. I thought they played BG for 3 qtrs until everything fell apart.

Hmmmm... why did they not play Mayfield this year?

Murray and Mayfield had scheduled to play each other during week 5 (Sept. 19). This was done by Coach Joe and Murray's coach from what I was told. However a couple of months ago Mayfield called and had to cancel the game because they have a 6 team district and they must play a district opponent during week 5. Due to traditional rivalries (Murray-Calloway) and (Mayfield - PT, Graves, Mccracken) a reschedule just couldn't happen. I was told both teams tried to make it work but because of schedules already being set they couldn't work it out. I hate that 2a district 1 has 6 teams. That seemed to be the issue with scheduling. I hope this game can get back on the schedule during the next cycle, it needs to happen.

Mayfield technically cancelled the game but it was out of their control.

A major problem in Western Kentucky this year was that 2A, 4A and 5A are all six team districts in the far west. That means they all have five district games to play. 1A, 3A and 6A are four team districts. That means they have to find a non-district game during week 5. I know Murray had a hard time after losing Mayfield week 5 to find a replacement game because so many teams in the area were unavailable due to district games. I think they finally worked it out with Russellville. They were in danger of only have 9 games before that happened. I wish they could balance out the districts better but I know its difficult.

Murray moves to 3A in 2025. Will be in district one along with Hopkins County Central, Union County, and Webster County.

I would have liked the Murray/Mayfield game to happen as both of these teams will be much better than last year.  It’s strange that District 1 in 2A has 6 teams while District 2 only has 4.  Todd Co and Fort Campbell were both in District 2 last year.  They should have kept 1 of those teams in District 2 and both would have 5 teams.  Looks like Mayfield’s RPI will suffer as a result.

Murray looks to be set up for a deep playoff run in 3A.  They lost TWO seniors.  Wyatt Robbins will improve on his 2,600 passing 500ish rushing in year two of this system. They beat Union Co 33-13 last year holding Darrin Johnson to a season low 62 rushing yards.
Union Co lost a ton of starters and looks to be in a rebuild/reload year.

Their schedule is solid in terms of RPI. Apollo will be a great first game.  Graves has a very talented junior class coming up and will be solid.  McCracken will improve. Russellville will make noise in 1A.

With the way it is set up, we may have several reps from the West make noise in late Nov.

1A Russellville

2A Mayfield

3A Murray

4A Paducah Tilghman

5A Graves Co

6A McCracken

Can’t wait

Saw some tape on Murray last year vs Union County There were several STUDS. IS this a Preseason number 2 in the state after CAL? or any other arguments from any other 3A team? Central?, Bell?, Rock?, Bardstown? Lex cath if they can find a coach? Mercer? How are these teams stacking up? 3A seems wide open to me more so than any other class?

Murray hardly ever plays  a real tough schedule. It's not in their DNA.
