Murray and McCracken have played very competitive games two out of the last three years. In 2023, Murray drove down the last 2 mins of the game. Colin Wilson found Zavion Carmen at the back of the endzone with 12 seconds left for a 38-35 win. In 2024, we had hurricane rain and win during the game. The Mustangs were not acclimated to the conditions at Ty Holland coughing the ball 5 times. Murray won 28-12. Last year, a track meet ensued and lasted all 48 mins. At the finish line, the difference was a missed 40+ field goal by the Mustangs right before the half. Murray, again, came out victorious 59-56. Will tomorrow be the same type of game?? McCracken comes in firing on all cylinders offensively. Presswood throws a very catchable ball and he has plenty of skill players around him. Led by Lanier and Matchum, these WRs can turn a 5 yard route into 6 points on any given play. Mustangs average just over 45 ppg. Everyone has mentioned over and over that Murray lost a bunch of production last season. That is true, can't argue that. So how have the Tigers looked so far? Averaging just over 50 points per game thus far. I'd say they are doing just fine. It's the Tiger defense vs the Mustang Air-Raid. McCracken's defense vs the ground and pound Murray Offense. Looks to be a good one.

You are correct. And that should be the goal for everyone currently undefeated. 2nd or 3rd in RPI gives you a chance to get to play at Kroger Field in December.

Lloyd was the more complete team last night. They are moving in the right direction.

Wishful thinking 😅😂😂 Honestly, from what I've seen so far, Lloyd looked like a better team this time last year. That and @theguru usually doesn't miss in NKY. Saying that, I still see Lloyd in Semis as they have the easiest path to get there. All the heavy hitters in 3A are in the West. Lex Cath, Glasgow, Central, Murray, Bardstown will all be fighting for a spot in Semis. CAL all ready has reservations at Kroger Field.

Graves was also bit by the injury bug early in the season. Not sure if they are at full strength yet but they played much better vs a down Union Co team. Graves switched their OC vs Union Co. They looked more dynamic scoring 35 points in the first half.

No difference in 3-15???? That's a lot of teams put together. I haven't seen Glasgow play but I hear they have a really good team offensively. Lloyd is playing solid and will only get better as the year goes on. Murray is different this year. They lost a lot of production from last year (Offensively). They looked sloppy vs Graves in week 3. Last year, when they had Wyatt Robbins and Co, Murray scored 48, 50, & 32 vs Apollo, Calloway, & Graves, respectfully. This year, they've won 58, 59, and 25. So last year, they averaged 43 pts their first 3 games. This year, they are averaging 47! I will say two things about this Murray team. 1. When you play the Tigers, strap up your chinstrap because they are a real physical team. OLine and DLine is where their strength lies. Everyone is back on both sides of the ball. 2. When their Qb gets comfortable and consistent with the offense, they will become a real dangerous team. I look at 3A like this. CAL (it's not even close) 3 steps down Lex Cath & Murray. Their game last year was an instant classic! 2 steps down Lloyd & Glasgow. The Scotties will have to play one of the above in the 3rd round, if not CAL. Lloyd should play the winner in semis. Both of these teams will get their change to prove they belong in the 2/3 conversation. Then everyone else.

Ugly win for the Tigers. Offensively they were not in sync the entire game. Defense was solid outside of 1 play with many missed tackles. In the second half, Graves did not gain a first down until the last drive of the game when the game was decided.

This early in the season, it's hard to know how good Mayfield is. From what I have seen, they are more sound than last year. Robbins looks more mature in the pocket and England is one of the best Rbs this side of the state. Their defense is solid but Christian Co did have success vs the Card's secondary. On the flip side, PT is not as the Tornadoes of the last couple of years. Saying that, they are still a very good football team. Thompson is special and McPeake is very close behind. Where I still have doubts is their Qb's decision making. Yes, he has big numbers thru two games but it has a lot to do with the athletes I previously mentioned. I chose PT to win early in the week, but as it gets closer to Friday, I think this game is a toss up. Either way, I know both of these teams will be better come November. Is it Friday yet?? Side note: Sherrill may be the difference thru special teams. He was in red last year and Friday, will rep Tornado blue.

Is Stonecipher out for Graves?? Heard he didn't finish the PT game due to a late hit.

Graves will be battle tested come district play. They were in a similar situation last year and started 0-3. Can Graves match the bruising attack Murray has shown thru 2 games?

Graves is a solid football team. I do wonder if they can consistently win with Houston at QB. Sounds like he missed several open receivers vs Mayfield. I think they can be more successful with Mathis or Stonecipher at the helm. Either way, PT as too much fire power for the Eagles. PT 49-14

Max Johnson is a player! Austin Peay better hope bigger schools don’t come knocking. Very impressed with 0 and 6 and how they scheme to get them open. Murray is out 2 secondary starters and it showed in the biggest way tonight. I had mentioned it, Max Johnson vs the Murray secondary and Apollo’s defense vs the Murray rushing attack. Both teams laid it out and fought until the last play! Good luck to both teams moving forward.

McCracken Co has several skill players that can make plays. I see them improving as the year progresses. The addition of Coach Dew is key for the future of the program, IMO. As of now, I don’t think the trenches favor the Mustangs. I see for PT to put pressure on Presswood early and often. PT 42-14

Chapman is #20. He did not play vs PT. Walls only played 2 series O, 2 on D.

Apollo’s Max Johnson is a Qb that doesn’t get talked about as much as he should. The Austin Peay commit has a very strong arm and quick release. He is able to buy time in and around the pocket and can throw 50+ yards on the run on any given play. I think that is the match up. Johnson’s arm and IQ vs the Tigers’ secondary. Can Murray put enough pressure on the QB to get off the field? Sounds like the Eagles have athletes all over the field. Murray returns 8 defensive starters that have seen a lot of football. I don’t think Apollo can run the ball consistently on this Murray defense. PT had issues running the football (outside of 1 play) vs the Tigers in their scrimmage. On the flip side, Murray lost Wyatt Robbins & company to graduation. 85% of their offensive stats, gone! But, the core is still there, the entire offensive line, TE, H back are back with more depth than the Tigers have had in a while. New signal caller is a dual threat athlete and seems to be picking up the offense well. Gage Chapman will lead the rushing attack but Murray also has about 5 kids that can make plays running. Can Apollo stop Murray’s offense? My guess is NO. Murray at home! 🐯 35 🦅 14

Highlands Trinity Scott Co St X Murray TB: 49

Scrimmage was a good test for both teams. They actually played 3 15 min running clock quarters. I think they both will have long postseasons come November. PT is very dynamic! Three explosive plays set up PT for their scores. Avery Thompson is as good as advertised. PT started with the ball, Qb got hit in 3rd down resulted in an INT. Murray couldn’t capitalize and settled for FG. PT responded on the next drive set up by a long pass to Thompson. TD by the Tornado 7-3. Murray then drove the ball 80 yards on their following drive to go up 10-7. PT again was dynamic with a couple long passes and went up 14-10. Murray stalled in the next drive and punted. Two plays later, a missed tackle in the backfield, PT RB reversed field and went for a long TD going up 21-10. Murray got the ball with 2 mins or so on the clock and got to the PT 7. Last play was an INT by Paducah on the goal line. Very entertaining scrimmage. Both teams will have a strong season. PT had success through the air. Outside of the long TD run, they could not move the ball on the ground. Murray’s lack of depth can be a concern. I was told they had a couple starters out.

Does Mayfield only have 1 scrimmage? Heard Coach Hatchell informed Murray they will not be making the trip for the 8/13 scheduled scrimmage.
