Owensboro comes into the matchup with Graves County after a tough 35-7 loss to Owensboro Catholic. The Red Devils struggled with turnovers, missed opportunities in the red zone and inconsistent execution in that game, so they will be looking to respond at home. Graves enters the game at 1-3 after a 14-0 win over Union County, and this should be a much more competitive matchup than Owensboro's record might suggest. For Owensboro, the key will be getting back to playing physical, disciplined football and taking advantage of its opportunities offensively.

Who ya got?

Graves County had a running clock on union going into halftime I believe. I'm almost certain they started the 2nd half 35-0. I do not know the final score.

35-13 I believe.

I know that last week stung pretty bad for the Devils but they can't let that spill over into this one. The offense is what it is at this point, they desperately need Ganaway back to get that side of the ball moving.

As the game approaches this game is making me more nervous then last week. We have a huge injury bug.

I was talking to some OHS fans today and I was shocked at how down they are since last Friday. I get it that in their history they have dominated the OC series but in the last 20 years it's not crazy for Catholic to win. I think Catholic has won 8 times over that period. I am hoping the kids aren't hearing too much of that negativity and maybe they can band together and just play for each other.

Who else is out besides Ganaway?

Being a OHS fan I'm not saying... Don't want this to get out. It's not good, but I still think we can win.

I understand. I think every team has bumps and bruises at this point in the year. Sounds like OHS may have a little more than that going on. The game is at Rash which is not easy for anybody to come into and win at.

You are correct for sure, but if we were full strength I would feel really good. This is probably one of the best chances Graves Co. has to beat us at Rash Stadium.

You can throw out Graves record coming into this game because the three losses were against good teams.Graves is a team you can't overlook because they are physical and a senior dominated team.

Graves was also bit by the injury bug early in the season. Not sure if they are at full strength yet but they played much better vs a down Union Co team.

Graves switched their OC vs Union Co. They looked more dynamic scoring 35 points in the first half.

I think Graves County's game against Murray is what makes this matchup interesting. Holding a very good Murray team to 25 points is impressive, even though Graves was only able to put seven on the board. If Owensboro is still without some key defensive players, I'd be a little concerned about Graves finding a way to hang around-especially if they can sustain long drives, shorten the game, and force a couple of turnovers.

Winning at Rash Stadium is a tall task under any circumstances, though, and I still expect Owensboro to win comfortably. Graves County's run game does not appear to be as strong as it has been in the past, although playing from behind in several games has probably contributed to that. Owensboro should have the advantage on the ground and needs to lean on it. The injuries make this one harder to predict than a game that should normally be a big Owensboro win. If the Red Devils take care of the football and play disciplined, I think they eventually pull away. But if Graves controls the clock and Owensboro turns the ball over a few times, this could get a lot more interesting than people expect.
