GC-Dragons

The Dragons and Trojans were in a battle all night. The Dragons scored first and led 6-0 and had another chance to score but fumbled the ball inside the barren 25 yard line. The Dragons forced another Barren punt but again fumbled, but this time inside of their own 30 and Barren took advantage and tied the score at 6-6 at the half. The start of the second half began with both teams trading punts and then the Dragons once again drove inside the Barren 25 and fumbled. This time, Barren took advantage of the turnover and scored and got the two point conversion and led 14-6. The Dragons would again start moving the ball only to throw an interception with 6 mins to go. Barren would go into score with 1 minute left to take a 21-6 lead and take the win. Great effort by the young Dragons, so much potential and so many young guys in major positions, that continue to get better each week. The Dragons are going to be a major problem for people in the next three years. Congrats to Barren, they have some really good looking players and play the game the right way. They might not win 6A, but they are a solid team and I wish them nothing but the best going forward.

The Dragons get a much needed win. The young guys are getting better each week and starting to understand their roles and executing much better. This season has been a tough one for the Dragons. The Dragons are extremely young and have been this entire year, but had some experience returning, and unfortunately injuries have decimated this group. When you lose your senior QB who’s been the starter for 3 years, best junior defender and back up running back for the year, along with your senior running back and senior corner and receiver all in one week, on an already young team, it makes things tough, but these young dragons are battling and have really shown some heart and toughness. Proud of this group of young men.

They are the second and third best team behind Campbellsville.

This was one of those games I was afraid might happen. A very young team trying to get guys reps and game experience that ran into an experienced team that has some good athletes and just more physical at this point, and give credit to the dogs who just went right after the Dragons and they didn’t have an answer. I can’t tell you how many fourth downs John got, but I’d guess it was at least 6 plus. The Dragons just couldn’t get a stop on fourth down or third and long. The Dragons have a long way to go, but the pieces are there for a super solid team by the end of the year. Congrats to John Hardin, they were the better team last night. I think they are better than some people think and will show that throughout the year. Good luck to John for the rest of the year, Very tough and physical team.

I honestly don’t know what to expect with this game. Green is very young this year in some major positions, but they have some very good young talent. They could play great or lay an absolute dud of a game, as is expected with young teams occasionally. I do know the Dragons will have a tough time with John’s speed and athleticism and will have to make the plays when they get the chance to do so. I’m not sold on the Dragons being a top ten team in 2A right now, and could very well see them losing this game. I hope to be able to make this game, and expect it to be a hard hitting game.

Dragons take the win in a final of 38-0. Dragons played well, and dominated the entire game and the young guys got a ton of playing time. Good luck to Casey County the rest of the year, they played hard and never gave up.

The Dragons have put the young guys in to start the second half and commence to score quickly but have their third TD of the day called back. They later attempt a field goal but miss wide left. Young Dragons then force a safety to make it 38-0, still in the third.

Dragons have pushed another one across and are leading 36-0 going into the half. The Dragons open the second half receiving the football.

FS is a very solid team. They have some really good athletes and the QB throws a very good and accurate ball. They swarm the football on defense and run the offense very efficiently. I don’t know much about Davies’s County, but give me FS by 1-2 scores.

Dragons have added another score to make it 29-0. The Dragons have had two touchdowns called back or this one would be even worse. Casey likely has negative yardage on offense so far. I hate it for the Casey kids as they have played hard, but they are in for a long year with the district they are in. They seem to be quite down to previous years.

The Dragons are leading 23-0 at the end of the first quarter. Casey punting to begin the second quarter. Dragons have dominated this game in every aspect to this point. Dragons have really spread the ball out so far and have dominated the line of scrimmage.

I haven’t seen the Taylor team this year, but they leaned on both of the Smith brothers a ton, and neither of them are there now. They will be down compared to last year, and lost multiple big time pieces to Campbellsville as well.

The Dragons scrimmaged Lincoln County last night and won the scrimmage 3 touchdowns to 1 touchdown for Lincoln. Each team had a series of 10 plays a piece and then played 2 quarters of game like action with the QB not being touched. The Dragons looked solid for most of the night. You can tell the Dragons are young in some positions, as they had some dropped passes and missed tackles and assignments that guys normally wouldn’t have missed, but it’s to be expected this early in the year and so many young guys playing. The Dragons have some really talented young guys, you can see the ability with the young guys, and I expect the Dragons to be very good in 2 years. I also was impressed with Lincoln, those young men play hard and will only get better as the year goes. They have some solid pieces as well, that I believe will give some Teams issues throughout the year. Overall a very good scrimmage for both teams. We should get a much better understanding of how good the Dragons are when they match up with Franklin Simpson next Friday for another scrimmage.

I believe Metcalfe will be solid, they return some good pieces. Monroe should have the best team they have fielded in 5-10 years. I’m not sure either is outright better than the Dragons, but think both could beat the Dragons on any given night. I would think both those games will be very competitive for the Dragons.

The Dragons lost a really good senior class and so many important pieces from this past season. The loss of Kelson McKinney, Julian Seymour along with Linemen Kolton Milby and Carson Scott are tough spots to fill. The Dragons also lost some very solid guys at receiver and defensive back. With all that said, the talent pool isn’t empty. The Dragons return some major pieces as well, QB Houston Hodges returns along with RB Gage Bale and Massiah Shively. The Dragons also return 3 offensive linemen and some talented freshman and sophomores who will contribute early and often this season. Defensively the Dragons look to be undertaking a major rebuild. The Dragons lost a ton, with only 3-4 returning starters. A bunch of young guys will be expected to step in and play a ton of minutes and make a ton of tackle's. This season could be the Dragons taking some lumps early but getting better as the year goes along. I’m not sure the Dragons are able to win the district this season, but they should be very competitive and get better every week.

This isn’t a bad loss as in they played a very solid team, but this a game that the Dragons let get away, this is actually back to back games the Dragons blew leads in the last few minutes. Once the Dragons figure out how to close out games, they will be dangerous.

Congrats to this young man. It was a great shot, even if it was against my Dragons. Mason County is a very solid team. They are going to be a tough out for anyone they play. My Dragons have really started to put it together, even with a 1-3 start, they haven’t been in a game yet where they didn’t have a chance to win, against some solid competition at that. I wouldn’t want to play them later in the year, they won’t be an easy out for anyone in the fifth region.

I feel some are being pretty harsh here, Barren isn’t a bad job. They have great facilities and the area has legitimate talent. Plus they return some nice players from last year. If they are able to land a solid coach, they could keep building the team. I also do feel Coach Muse was doing a solid job and they had really made some solid gains under him recently. Knowing that, it seems there would be more to this than just wins and losses. Either way, I wish Barren County well.

This one is tough on me, I truly appreciate what both programs do and how they play, these two have to be my favorite teams that don’t wear the green and gold. I like to go with the underdog, so give me the Devils 28-27. Good luck to both and hope both stay healthy.

I don’t really believe in comparing scores like this, but Hart beat Campbellsville, who beat somerset, who beat Shelby Valley like a drum, who beat Lawrence County, who just took Rock to the brink of a loss just two weeks ago. If we are to compare scores like that, I’d say Hart Is a better team than Rock. With all that said, I don’t think comparing scores like that works out at all, as I think every game involves individual matchups, and I think this one should be a dandy. Here’s to hoping Hart keeps it going all the way to the title game. What an awesome story that would be.

I’m going Lexington Catholic, I think they pull this one out. This will be a battle, and both are great teams. Good luck to both teams and hope both stay healthy.

I’ve seen LCA, and Mayfield in person this year, and Owensboro Catholic is every bit as good as both. I’ll be honest, I knew Catholic was very good, but they are even better than I expected. I’m going out on a limb here, but I’m going with Catholic as the state champions, they impressed me that much. Super good football team.

Congrats to the Raiders. What an amazing year for them. They have a legitimate shot of making the state title game next week. I can’t imagine the crowd that will be assembled in Hart County next week.
