The Defenders of Bryan Station will make the 3 to 4 mile trip to "The Farm" to take on the Broncos of Frederick Douglass on Friday kickoff is scheduled for 6:30. The Defenders will be looking to be the first school in Lexington to be able to put a loss on the Broncos since the program began in 2017. Currently Douglass is 22-0 vs the other 5 public schools in Lexington and 24-0 vs all schools public or private in Lexington.

Bryan Station is coming into the season with very high hopes with being ranked in the top 5 in class 6A. They are lead by a really good junior class. The Defender offense is lead by junior QB junior Trenton Cutwright and a pair of very good WR in JT Haskin and Damin Green. On defense the Defenders are lead by 3 talented juniors in LB Jason Hocker, and the Frazier boys DL Dahon Frazier and DE Jahvon Frazier.

The Broncos are once again loaded with D1 talent especially on the defensive side of the ball. This years Douglass defense could be its best yet. It is lead by two D1 power 5 players in DL Jamarrion Harkless (Illinois) and DB Ty Bryant (Kentucky). Overall the Broncos have a total of 8 players that were listed this weeks in the Lexington Herald Leaders top 50 football players in the state.

The keys to this game will be if the Defenders will be able to put any points on the vaulted Bronco defense and also the one question mark for the Broncos is the quarterback position at this time not sure who will get the nod for starting between juniors DuRi Trahan Cole Carpenter both saw action on last Friday's scrimmage at St. X. Quarterback play will be the major key for how far the Broncos make it this postseason. Frederick Douglass has several weapons on offense in WR's Cameron Dunn and Tylon Webb as well as Ty Bryant and TE Thomas Howard.

This game will probably be the Broncos toughest challenge this season from the other 5 Lexington public schools. The Broncos won a hard fought 27-14 game at Station to start last season. I think the Douglass defense will be to much for the Defenders this year.

It will be interesting to see if FD can contain the Station QB. I think his feet are the biggest threat. If he can open up some passing ops with his feet they may have a chance to keep things interesting, if not I'll take FD by 3 TD's.

If he scrambles to buy time for a pass, that could work. If he is scrambling to try to run for big yards, that won't work after the first two attempts.

I like the FDHS front line on both sides vs the rather small linemen of Bryan Station.
