  1. I also want to mention senior Chris Duffy, he had two very athletic catches. One on a third and long and another for a touchdown. With his speed and jumping ability he will be another weapon who will be very difficult to cover.
  2. I hate that Biggs isn't in black and gold this year. He paid his dues over the last three seasons and I believe he would have been rewarded this year. Would have been the best straight ahead ball carrier Boyle had. On a different note a few young Rebels showed they are ready to compete for a starting position. Luke Shepperson had 2 or 3 nice tackles and broke up a pass play that could have been a pick 6. The Sacco kid had a few nice runs too!
  3. Just varsity and only 3 quarters. The JV played the final quarter and the freshmen played prior to the varsity game.
  4. A Rematch of last years preseason game. Boyle looked much better than last year in a 27 - 7 victory. Defense looked sharp, with the D line playing very well. On offense they obviously missed Tanner Crawford but still moved the ball well on the ground.
  5. What about E-town? They were the second best team in 3A in 2017. Have they lost enough talent that Lexington Catholic will surpass them?
  6. Aaron Hatter will be playing both ways on certain sets. He had to give up the #87 jersey so he could play on the O-line and will be wearing a familiar to Rebel fans #58 for his senior year.
  7. Ballard also lost early to DeSales last year. Then went on to beat Collins and then Central 30 - 7. But that was last years team, a 6a school like Ballard has a pretty deep talent pool plus a transfer or two could have a big impact. I certainly would like to see Boyle win handily but would not be surprised if Ballard is a big challenge.
  8. Unfortunately, Tanner will sit out the first game from what I am hearing.
  9. That first game could be a barn burner! Anxious to see how Boyles O line and D line look this year. Senior Ned Stephens will likely move to center and is already getting attention from the collage ranks with an offer from Mount St. Joseph in Cincinnati. Seniors Aaron Hatter and Cameron Gwinn will anchor the defensive line and with their height and speed the question marks that exist now could quickly become exclamation points come August.
  10. Ballard has to play some very good 6A opponents every year and might well be the best team Boyle will see in the regular season. Can't imagine a running clock in this one.
  11. Jags were the better team today. Dilly Dilly!
  12. Word is a few junior's that did not play this year for one reason or another have expressed an interest in rejoining the Rebels next season. I can think of three kids that could definitely make an immediate impact on replacing some of our outgoing seniors.
  13. Boyle has skill players stacked up like cord wood! Big shoes to fill on both offense and defensive line for next year though. With Hatter, Kelly and Roller back the defense has a great foundation already, Ned Stephens is the only offensive lineman returning of the starting five. He did not get as much press as he should have do in part to standout Bremal but he had a great year none the less and will be getting collage attention.
  14. Way to go Ads! A season to be proud of for the Cardinals!
  15. Correct me if I am wrong but Boyle did not have a player ejected the entire regular season. Then in the playoffs Hatter, #87 is mistakenly identified for #78 of Lexington Catholic (don't have a clue how the official screwed that up so bad) and ejected for a punch the Knights player threw. Then last night Crawford was tossed for a Luke warm first down call. I wonder what the real agenda was?
  16. Kroger field is a great venue for the championship games. Both teams brought big crowds and set a new record for the 3A championship game. Over 11,200 strong for both teams. Talked with some great Corbin fans in the green lot before the game and I am sure they are very proud of the Redhounds accomplishments. Boyle defense did what they have done all year, stop the run. Hatter, Paycheck, Kelly & Hellyer controlled the line of scrimmage and kept Sizmore from scrambling most of the night.
  17. Never said the kids you mentioned were not skilled. Just look at Corbin's stats, they run a pass heavy offense. Boyle's defense is built to stop the run first. Of the teams we have played so far in the playoffs this offense is the most capable of challenging our D-backs.
  18. I think Corbin's passing game is going to give them an advantage in this one. Boyles pass defense has improved steadily this season but this will be the best QB they have faced with multiple weapons to throw the ball too.
  19. Thanks to Etowncat for the dinning recommendations. Went to the Wicked Eyed Lady before the game, great atmosphere and good food. Might make the trip back just to eat there again. This was the first game I can remember the PA announcer telling the visiting team fans that they had to set on the side of the field opposite the press box of security would escort them to the other side. When I checked my ticket was general admission, no seat designation. I don't know how many Boyle fans were there but there were many more standing than sitting.
  20. Agreed, E-town has a fast, great tackling defense that gets everybody to the ball. Boyles seniors were the difference in this game. Will Bremmel and John Yeager were huge when asked to play both ways for the first time this year. Gervacio and Hellyer were great as well. And Mitchell Paycheck played flat out from start to finish.
  21. Danville wins by as much as they want. If they were playing in Mayfield it could be a close game. But at the grocery Danville wins large.
  22. Slim chance at best. Better chance of a running clock early in the 3rd quarter.
  23. After the Boyle - Western Hills playoff game I pointed out the Rebels pass coverage let the receivers get behind them a few times they just could not hit the throws. Against LexCath the coverage was A+ all night. The run defense was solid as well and Chuck left the starters in for 98% of the game. A 4 quarter emotional performance from the first team came at just the right time as next week will require Boyles best effort of the year if they want to play at the grocery!
