  1. Garrard's defense stepped up and got some key stops against a good Flemingsburg offense. Probably not as good as the Knights but good none the less. If they can get a stop or two and move the ball on the ground successfully maybe they pull off another upset? The mental hurdle of thinking you can win against a team that has had your number for years might be the biggest obstacle in there way.
  2. I think CAL & Danville should both win easily but the Glasgow-NCC game could go either way. The possibility of a back and forth multiple lead change game is much more likely in this one.
  3. Mercer has played a little better on the road than at home this year. Might be enough to help them make up the 3 points East beat them buy a few weeks ago.
  4. The hurdle gets a little higher this week for Danville but home field and having a player or two back at full strength will let the Ads win all 4 quarters this time. Danville 42 - Somerset 21
  5. It will be a big task to keep WanDale contained like Boyle did in the first game. I think he will have a little more success running the ball this time but not nearly enough to close the gap between these two programs. Boyle wins large.
  6. Washington Co. over Owen Co. Garrard over Flemming
  7. Boyles special teams and defense scored 9 points in the first 2 minutes. Walker added a pick 6 before the end of the first 1/4. Hatter, Paycheck, Hellyer and Kelly completely stifled the West Carter offense.
  8. Boyle by a bunch.I don't know much about West Carter but if they study the Boyle - Mercer game and see the success that Mercer had early with the scramble and throw game plan they might adjust and keep it interesting for a quarter or so. That said Boyle wins 60 - 7
  9. Washington Co. gets such a raw deal being in a district with TWO elite private schools who have a huge talent pool to recruit from. They are playing for third place in the district evey year and all but guaranteed two demoralising butt whippings from DeSales and CAL. A winnable game might be just the motivation this team needs to pull off a first round upset against Owen Co.
  10. Lincoln has some good skill players, if everyone is healthy they have a chance. The QB Bryson Yaden is a tremendous athlete. They had an injury or two last week that might make this a difficult challenge.
  11. Glad to see Casey Co. enjoying record setting success for a program that struggled for decades. And I graduated from there in those 1 win seasons.
  12. This could be one of the best first round games in the state. I would not be surprised if Garrard comes away with the win. My guess is Garrard 24 - Flemming 19
  13. WanDale will account for 25 points or more in this one. If Western Hills can get 3 or 4 stops on defense they win.
  14. 1 Belfry 2 Boyle 3 Central 4 Corbin 5 E-town I agree that Central is a real contender maybe a 2A instead of 3. Who ever comes out of the east will certainly have earned the honor of playing for a state championship.
  15. Don't know the players # but he walked over to the track, laid down on his back and seemed to be stretching when the trainers and coaches that were working with him called for the ambulance. They took him too Danville when they left the field.
  16. Did the starting QG from earlier in the season return for CAL against Washington Co?
  17. Lets hope the rain holds of until 10 or so. I assume this game will be played at the old Harrodsburg High field and not at Mercer.
  18. My guess is the foot will stay to the floor until a running clock is achieved. If Boyle can't get the running clock the starters stay in.
  19. Agreed. To come away from Louisville with a win over Central would carry more weight than a win over E-town I think. And if Central were to win how could they not be the favorite. Boyles path of slightly less resistance would still be challenging but not as competitive as the East. But E-town will certainly be a big obstacle for the Rebels to overcome.
  20. There is discussion on some of the other threads about resting players in these games that don't really affect your playoff position. I don't think coach Smith subscribes to this philosophy but might it make sense to get some quality playing time for the young men that will be starting next year. The second teamers have had there share of snaps but only after the game was well in hand. Or do you keep the young men who have brought you this level of success conditioned and psyched up for game time no mater who the opponent is.
  21. That is a great point. Casey vs Western Hills would likely be a very close game.
  22. Collins or Wayne #1 JC #3 Ashland #4
  23. I think Central is gaining speed at just the right time! Momentum and home field advantage might well carry them to the grocery in Lexington.
