  1. Last year the Collins offensive line was able to push the Boyle defensive front around for the first couple of drives but soon ran out of gas. You could see their frustration level rise as the game wore on and holding penalties ensued along with the expected business after the whistle. The officials keep it under control and nothing got out of hand but our guys remember how they were coached to play and are preparing accordingly.
  2. Should get to see the JV get a good amount of playing time in this one. The Rebels by 4 or 5 touchdowns
  3. Can Danville get off the mat after this game?
  4. Not much to say about this game that was not expected. I thought Wayne would be a little more competitive but it was all Boyle. Wayne's defensive line is good and won a few battles up front but that was about the only strong point I saw for the Cardinals. Boyle did get Crawford back and it did not take long for him to find the end zone. Reiley Colwick is becoming a force at wide receiver who never gets tackled by the first guy to hit him. Seams to get 3 or 4 extra yards every time he touches the ball.
  5. Leap year is more common than a public school winning a 6A championship, but once in a great while when the moons align just so a public school will sneak up and win one. But I still wound not bet one it this year.
  6. I thought this was the Ballard - Central thread? Very surprised by this outcome!
  7. If Biggs had stayed this would certainly be his time to shine. That straight ahead, hit harder than you get hit style of runner would be a huge addition right now.
  8. If Danville can get 2 or 3 more young players in the rotation so their core group doesn't have to play every down they will be just fine. I think they can win the rest of their regular season games and go 3 or 4 rounds in the playoffs with the current group.
  9. I think Boyle's passing game will be to much for the Cardinal defense to keep up with. If the Rebels can make there half time adjustments on the bus ride to Monticello they might win big, but if they struggle to stop the run in the first half Wayne Co. could make it interesting.
  10. I was a little surprised by the size of the crowd last night. This game is usually a standing room only event. The threat of rain must have kept a few fans away as there were a few empty seats on both sides.
  11. Week one Reese Smith was the Rebels catalyst. Last week it was Cameron Guinn, Wilson Kelly and the rest of the defensive line. Last night it was Ned Stephens. He was asked to play both sides of the line and did a great job. The blocked punt recovery for a touchdown was a "all hustle" play.
  12. Boyle will be a little closer to full strength than it looked earlier this week. Aaron has overcome the consumption that he has been battling for the last 2 games and barring a terrible relapse he will play tonight. Still not sure if Tanner will play or not and Grant Hotchkiss is out indefinitely. That said Boyle 27 - Danville 13
  13. Cameron Gwinn had a great game as well with a couple sledge hammer sacks.
  14. This game is such a mental challenge for these two teams that talent and experience do not always prevail. I agree with Wireman, it will be closer than most think.
  15. Shoulder injury that was aggravated in the Ballard game.
  16. Tanner should play Saturday night, but wide receiver Grant Hotchkis could be out for the rest of the season.
  17. Running back Tanner Crawford is back in pads at practice this week and might see some reps this Saturday. Boyle certainly missed him last week. With him and Bartleson in the backfield the Rebels running game will be much tougher to deal with.
  18. Aaron Hatter is just getting over strep throat. Missed practice early in the week and just wasn't 100%.
  19. I look for a much more productive running game against Franklin Co. Bartleson should put up some big numbers and Socco and the other younger backs should get some reps too. If Crawford is ready to go he could go off as well. Boyle big.
  20. Good win and confidence builder for this young Danville squad.
  21. Ballard was able to run the ball with much more success than I thought they could . Ballards offensive line is HUGE and Boyles 3 man front was getting worked in the first half. Don't know if it was the rain or adjustments that the coaching staff made but the second half was a different story. Aaron Hatter had 2 or 3 sacks and Wilson Kelly was able to get to the Ballard QB as well and once they were able to hurry and disrupt on almost every play the Ballard offense sputtered. If Ballard were a little more disciplined this game would have easily swung in there favor. Penalties and turnovers were their undoing.
  22. Boyles defensive front are a big asset in the passing game as well. A quarterback has to roll out and be accurate at passing on the run if they are to have much success.
  23. Rushing yards will be tough to come by against this Boyle squad. Their safety and DB's will make it very difficult to try to beat them long or even intermediate. Quick, accurate outside routes were the only success that Madison Central had. Ballards best shot will be in that underneath zone I think but that game plan will likely not yield enough points to keep up with Boyles offense. Im taking Boyle by 14.
  24. After these two teams had successful scrimmages last week have any predictions changed?
