How many kids are we talking? I've got 50+ on my jv and some kids are just going to be 40/40/40. Up by 40 or down by 40 with 40 seconds left to play.

This is not daddy ball where everyone gets to play and goes home with a trophy. We are trying to develop the next group of kids and help them grow into varsity players.

Wins and losses aren't always an indicator because you never know what the other team has playing. We take ours very seriously and record every game and spend some time watching them with our kids so they can see their great plays and mistakes. I will say that if our teams are blowing other teams out like we are this year then I'm feeling pretty confident about our future. And I'll say that here in Georgia, it doesn't always matter because of the shear amount of transfers that most schools get a year.

I can tell you as a coach you are aware of what everyone around you has coming down the pipeline. For our junior programs they often play teams that are not in our district, especially once they start the playoffs. Plus, we have a lot of transition down in Georgia so you want to know who your players are and who might transfer to our school.

Play them and take the huge gate that their fans will bring.

Region 1 in 6a is usually pretty damn good and considered the toughest region in Georgia. Most years it might give them a run for their money.

Once the game starts, opposing fans have no effect on a game.

We have some teams in Georgia that were placed in a lower class because there were no other 6a teams within an hours drive. They do play 6a football though and are usually pretty good at it.

Eh, we'll just have to disagree then. It's contact but we're in shells and it's too beneficial to us. This way I can see how my kids are progressing and I don't have to wait till the scrimmage to see who'll be a player and who won't.

Are you including summer camps? Cause we do three of them a summer and go against 12-16 teams total each summer.

East Paulding has a mock graveyard that they put tombstones of the teams they beat. They add to it each week. Valdosta and Woodstock (stolen from Valdosta) have a portable woodshed that the players beat on and run out of before the game.

I have a hard time believing that T would only have 50 kids out for the freshmen team. Usually it's 100+. I'm not saying it's not true but I just don't believe it until one of my brethren confirms it.

I'm glad to hear it. I don't know much about the program other than they don't win very much and I have several friends who teach there and in the system.

Yall are just now doing this? Georgia has had this for years. Thankfully, they changed it a few years ago so that it starts on Friday night and ends Thursday night so that if you miscount the number of quarters a kid plays you only forfeit the 9th/JV game instead of a varsity game.
