I would have assumed that only 6 teams would have winning streaks heading into a new season.

Agreed...

I'm pretty sure those are teams that won their last game(s) but did not qualify for the playoffs, so they ended the season with a win without losing in the playoffs.

Lewis County opens with Greenup County, Boyd County, Nicholas COunty, Powell County, and Fleming County. Not exactly Murderer's Row.

Meanwhile all your defending State Champs have some very tough Non-District games through their first 5 games.

Could it be possible that Lewis County could hold the State's Longest Current Winning Streak?

Nine teams actually won their final game but missed the playoffs, something that happens more since the KHSAA mandated no district games in Week 10. East Ridge won their last three games but played an independent schedule and therefore was ineligible for the postseason.

My first question is how was there a tie?

Phelps and Jenkins tied on opening night last year in a weather delayed game. I'm not even sure the game started. There were two other "ties" I believe. Based on the KHSAA website I'm assuming they go into the record book as such.

Those multi-year losing streaks are ugly... Gotta be hard to get kids out in those programs.

Hopkins Central and Logan County play each other so one streak will end. Ohio County, reasonably close to both Hopkins Central and Logan isn't playing either. I'd have been on the phone with those teams first thing.
