  1. Glad to hear all is well in Hebron, welcome back...... 9th region isn't the same without the Cougars! Congrats on today, hope they make this adversity a learning experience.....good luck the remainder of the season. Btw. Thanks for great pics........
  2. We have heard all about what got us to today.....not interested in a re-count of events. I am more interested in what transpires from here. It appears that they will pick up the season with a game against Cooper today. I do not know particulars about where they are as a team; I have heard they have new coaches, apparently have practiced under them and are now ready to resume playing? My question is, do they have all their personnel, how will they respond to this disruption in team/schedule, and are they a legit top team in the 9th for this season. Please speak to issue and not re-hash past. Thanks.
  3. Thank you Playtowin29........it is awesome to have someone champion the cause of the girls with a recap of games and recognition for their hard work. I look forward to finding details for the HHS games (and Lawnboy for NCC) ...........every team should have someone reporting game details, how cool would that be....... Sounds like Birds are starting to rev their motor, see if they can carry it to the Knoll. Glad to hear Shelby is cranking it up, watch out!
  4. I really did not think this situation caused much disruption in the flow of the game nor did it affect the outcome at all. Holmes kinda "chased" this game from the beginning. They were down early and did not make runs to close the gap as Mercer controlled the game clock pretty well including late. I have to say I am impressed with this Mercer Co team. #4 is legit and does everything well.....as noted, their execution at the end of quarters setting up & knocking down threes was stellar AND they played stingy D all day. They are long and move well in space and that caused issues with Holmes controlling tempo. They extended their D and even pressured 3/4 court occasionally. Oh yeah, they started 4 Sophs & a Jr and showed incredible poise.....this team will be heard from for a while, including the remainder of this tournament. Nice season for Holmes......outside shooting was an issue, particularly early. They never quit and I couldn't leave because they play til the end with their disruptive D. I pick MC to advance to final.....
  5. Apparently because no 9th region coaches responded?
  6. That's an impressive line-up and go back a couple of years and add the '09 Holmes 2OT victory over Central.....how can you not love the Sweet 16!
  7. LaLa might live down the street but Macke doesn't and where are the others coming from and why are they all getting there now and what part of the matrix is that.......these might be the questions that are being asked now and why some are scratching their heads about the merits of being there at HC instead of somewhere else (specifically where they were originally headed) Shopping for sports opportunity is a slippery slope............ Personally I don't care who plays when, where, why; I only hope the adults aren't screwing it up for the kids and this path does have that potential. Sorry to be off original thread topic. Good luck to HHS w/Ryle, see ya at the softball complex.....or not:wave:
  8. Don't think that one is in the bag yet....stay tuned...............
  9. Frosh Zoie Barth was strong and effective early. She and Coffey kept the game close through the first half. These two also created havoc defensively to set the tone in the second half. Leigh finally showed up late and did a great job playing stronger and making FT. She is the key for them getting past Sat. Seniors stepped up..... Must mention the strong Defensive effort from Adler in 2nd as she forced McClendon right and used her length to keep her from getting strong drives. HHS got solid minutes from everyone, good effort. HC did a nice job controlling pace of game in first half but let HHS change it in the 2nd. McClendon couldn't get shots to fall in lane and not enough outlets to go to other than the threes from #4 that kept them in game until they had to foul at finish. Game was fun to watch ..... Good luck to Birds on Sat.
  10. I agree with this assessment. Regarding this game, if Holmes takes anything from the last meeting they should be able to take this by about 10 in regulation. The point to be taken is in the last game HC had very unbalanced scoring and if Holmes forces possessions into "other players" hands and HC cannot get scoring from those "other players".......this game will go Holmes way. BTW, although they are not necessarily deep, Holmes usually gets very balanced scoring which is always tougher for the opposing D. Just an observation. I agree that Holmes and Ryle are favorites but HC and Highlands with the right draw are legit contenders as well, should be a great regional.
  11. This quite possibly could be the most bizarre, unusual, yet very entertaining game I've witnessed in a long time! Newport earned this one and it was fun to see the genuine excitement from their players, coaches, fans, & cheerleaders. Congrats to the Wildcats!
  12. He was at Highlands before he thought about going to NCC before he transferred to HC......next year, who knows where he'll think about going or where he'll end up. What's the point again? Congrats to HC and all their players and coaches wherever they come from:ohbrother:
  13. Conner does have a lot of talent in successive grade levels including an outstanding 8th grade group, that should provide them with some real contenders in the next few years. They play an aggressive style that jumps the "weak at heart".....love the way they played D sat. night and cut passing lanes, trapped in half-court.....very effective. Congratulations ....they earned it!
  14. Nick Kendall at HHS.....just finished stellar career as RB, on to basketball and then track. Speed to burn, year round!
  15. This is not an exact science, take CovCath.....great program for long time (6 State titles) not many district titles....mainly because of Highlands. That doesn't mean they are not a great program and perhaps could be ranked higher. It's all kinda relative......I appreciate the effort and discussion that it provides, nice work gcha !
  16. I'm rooting for the Birds just to prevent the Maroons from playing the Purples in the finals? Nobody wants to see that .............folks I don't make this stuff up!
  17. Let me try to summarize. Did HC enrollment go up yesterday? Fact: enrollment did gain one 8th grader who happens to be a b-ball player. Opinions stated: this is one and there may be more to come. Fact: this player left the number one academic school in Ky on 10/22 which also happened to be the day after tryout/ teams were announced. Opinions stated: this was a basketball decision. Fact: parents tend to on occasion make bad decisions, particularly when it comes to the importance of their kid's sports. Opinions stated: this is one of those occasions. My personal opinion: we are talking about 8th grade girl, maybe 13, playing basketball this year.(let me state it again, as a 13 yr old 8th grader.)..... Is it really that important/necessary and beneficial to the child to change schools in the middle of a quarter, create a stir/perhaps cause social issues, alienate friendships/risk potential resentments, have to purchase new colors spirit wear, lol etc. ? What message are we sending when it becomes all about whether my DD can play basketball at the level I want her to? Yes, make no mistake, this IS a parent issue. Is this what parenting is about..... who is benefitting from decisions such as this.....are sports, much less MS age-level sports really this important? I'm not sure, but these questions would make for an interesting commentary, if someone were so inclined. I'm done with this silliness, I'm going to go watch the grass grow in the front yard.
  18. Definitely have talent back, it will be interesting to see who fills some of the varsity roster and provides depth they'll need to really be a contender for the 9th.
  19. Birdman, love that you have done your homework and recognize that different eras still can be rated together...... Not easy to do, Nice list! I agree that "Fish" and JB were awesome, but not including them is not a travesty considering the number of great players that have traveled through HHS. I looked at the other thread and this one and was curious if anyone would agree that "Bubba" Mallery could be added to a list. Not seeing his mention but he played both sides of the ball some but defensively he was a animal.
  20. I think HHS running game underrated by some; Kendall is a nice back and will have a big night. Time for HHS to get it right if they are ever going to....
  21. Congratulations to Bailey ! She has worked extremely hard at her craft......hope she finishes her HS career strong. She is a great competitor and may be the best pitcher in the ninth this year........they are definitely getting a good one at CCU!
  22. Actually Ft Thomas Independent School District releases state funds to another school if a district resident wants to attend any other school...... Let's chew on that for a second.
  23. Nice try but you're bait is a little stale...... Nobody is biting. I don't think there is too much concern in FtT. Haters can enjoy the ride but better jump on the train quick because the ride might last too long.
