  1. Haven't seen Scott Co. yet but think they will be able to run up the middle effectively; Bryan Station will need some big plays on O or they won't be able to stay in the game. I agree that I wouldn't take bets when Bryan Station is involved, they are hard to predict because they are explosive offensively & suspect defensively. Could be a good one though.......
  2. Oh yeah, my dad can beat up your dad....... Does the babysitter know you have the laptop in your room? Good grief, will it ever end......
  3. Patti's restaurant over by Ky Dam Village......Hot Brown or pork chop, second to none !
  4. Trying to put this one on track, I have seen a few freshman games this season and in this one came away very impressed with Conner QB #7 and RB #28 (Griffith/Wilson?) Anyway, QB has good size, nice footwork & throws a nice ball, see him as a nice dual threat in HS. (also had nice pick on D). RB/DB #28 is tough kid, very athletic with good speed. Tackled well, received from backfield well and had nice KO return that really changed the game. These two carried this team athletically &btw, #74 is a "biggin" that moves well for his size playing LB. On the HHS side #7 New is always impressive, everywhere, all over. Thought HHS started to show some depth at receiver with a lot of different players involved as they played catch-up and lost their running game. It was freshman football, could go either way if they played again. The take away: Conner has several really nice athletes from this class, HHS; see a lot of potential as well.
  5. Maybe these computers are on to something......they always give us great matchups with close scores, oh and everyone always scores in the low 20's :ylsuper:
  6. I agree with you, it's been an interesting season to say the least. I think that if you measure from early to present, you can say that teams that made the most improvement would be HHS, Dixie, Beechwood & Ryle........teams falling include CovCath (duh),Cooper (mostly injury-related) and CampCo. I think CampCo. is very one-dimensional and too much film proving it exists at this point........If Dixie doesn't give the ball away, they win this one by a couple of TDs or more.
  7. I really don't see a SOS as a basis for Owensboro jumping HHS yet. I do believe Owensboro has a better chance to make the finals simply from lack of competition to get there......I think like HHS, Lexcath is improving every week and will be a tough out coming from the east bracket. My question is, if HHS plays well and still loses to Elder (and maybe even the Fla. team that I know nothing about) and beats Warren central to close the season, where do you rate them then?
  8. Three 8th graders out of nine starters really? Thought the roster was getting deep at HHS.....
  9. Nice try but one win would be like winning a multi-million dollar lottery for that someone! Heaven help us if/when that ever happens!
  10. As I posted in the Bowling Green thread, it is particularly impressive when a team adds some good out of state competition into those streaks. Not knocking in-state football but certainly recent Trinity teams (with a national schedule) and Highlands (playing GCL teams in Cincy) limted what otherwise may have been some extensive streaks. I believe the note of CovCath not having a long streak is also in part to scheduling GCL (and playing HHS twice most years). Aside from BG's recent streak (that included Tenn. teams).....Boyle's streak stands out to me because there were fewer classes then.
  11. Some, doesn't mean "most" ; and it certainly doesn't = "all".......I believe most would still consider this a great rivalry and feel this year the teams are pretty equal. Friday will tell; I look for a close one and maybe one of those instant classic finishes.......
  12. All this talk surrouding this game is pretty exciting and makes me think I should attend this one instead of SK ............v. who are they playing, again? Seriously, I think this one on paper shapes up to be a "good ole fashion goodin !" I think the post about containing Hoge is accurate but not very easy to accomplish, he really breaks down coverages when he scrambles, everyone has to stay disciplined or he can run or throw. I am impressed with Dressman and think he needs to touch the ball more often. With good speed outside this year, it will be interesting to see if CCH chooses to throw downfield......I always think they settle for a short passing game against Highlands. No one leaves early from this one, I really think this is a fourth quarter victory for someone......
  13. Congrats to the BG Purples for an impressive streak that reflects a willingness to challenge themselves with a schedule. Including teams like LexCath & St.X and a willingness to take on some real competition from out of state is a testament of how impressive the streak is and how far the program has come. Great programs continue to challenge themselves, winning streaks are the measure of embracing that challenge........kudos !
  14. The injured player who presented the game ball from Coach Rice's first game was Gil Gelke who went on to a long, distiquished career as an NCAA football official (and was easily recognized from the pronounced limp that resulted from that accident). Nice gesture from Gil who is a quality individual.
  15. And 1-3 Collins hung 14 on SK ..........what is your point? Never mind.
  16. You summed it up nicely here and any coach in HS will tell you about the kid on their roster that "if he had the right size/speed, he's a D1 prospect" A superstar is the seperation of the gifted that also works harder than anyone else (think Jerry Rice/Michael Jordan) but they start with huge gifts that everyone can't possess
  17. One Mr. Schearer played QB for Sk and represented pretty well indeed. He ran the offense with confidence, threw "out" passes well but not as well downfield and ran effectively (followed blocks well. Had to be a tough game for him but he played very well. BTW Parks at RB for SK had a nice game as well.
  18. Thought I'd sneak some viewing time on this one to see what all the talk about SK was all about....:sneaky: Didn't see the whole game but I thought there were two #7's on the field for awhile! Congrats to Crosley New from HHS who was seemingly everywhere. Returned kickoff, crazy on the ball/tackling on D, kicks off, snaps punts, a little RB including catching passes, I thought he was announcing the game too ! He's a gamer for sure....
  19. I thought for sure I would see a post on here that said "watching UK#1Fan disappear into the cavernous hole he digs himself into each season" lol
  20. Highlands is finishing the unusual level of talent that was evident in the late 90's-early 2000 period and over the last (ok) 7+ yrs but the "in-between" years are still pretty good.............. I do see the level coming up being more in line with the some of the other schools including CCH. It is not based completely on whether a freshman or JV class wins a game as they are not an exact indicator, but I do believe after watching the kids from these classes play, the gap has narrowed. Should make for some great games moving forward, I for one enjoy when this rivalry is actually a rivalry that plays out on the field each year!
  21. Well said, Can you post this over in the basketball forum when HHS is scheduled to play NC ? lol
  22. No, maybe the Colonels should schedule better and they wouldn't have this problem :idunno:
  23. Why would you bother with this exercise, darts blindfolded could give you a better list...........:ohbrother:
  24. I think it has hinted to what was already known. Specifically that a new coach would be very different adjustment to an established program used to a Dale Mueller, that this team would not come into the season as such an overwhelming favorite to "repeat", that the O line would be inexperienced and critical to their sucess, that their overall depth would be a concern through a tough schedule. If you are a HHS fan, you can rest on the idea that they played two tough games and found different ways to win which is a tribute in part to coaching; the O line made far fewer errors in the second game (particularly penalties) and established a running game......both of which will be keys to their offensive success moving forward; they have overcome the loss of a couple of key players (Telek/Mills)& are still winning. It has also confirmed that if healthy, the "front-line" talent is good enough to challenge for a title, particularly evidenced in the play of QB Hoge/Venneman/etc. Conversely, it will be difficult to sustain any of this if they lose any of a few other key players, the D will have to be able to keep them from the slugfest like WC & Collins in '13 & Bryan S '14 because the O isn't as explosive to overcome this every week. In the end, I think they (like CCH, LC, BC others) will have to progress & improve each week........I believe they will under Weinrich, will the others keep pace, we'll have to wait to see.
  25. Title of "flagship" is a tall order and to me would mean they are recognized as the top team from the state and is recognized as such within and outside the state. Without taking anything away from their streak or run of championships which are impressive..... The other contenders have been piling up multiple/consecutive titles, dominating their respective classes, and defeating quality out of state schools and by the way, been doing it a lot longer. BG is doing similar things now, but I wouldn't run 'em up the flagpole just yet ......
