  1. She is definitely not a slapper. RH batter with great approach at the plate..... hits ball hard but not necessarily a power hitter. Dad will be looking to get her to right side more and she will have it all going then, lol. She is a superb fielder at SS with great hands and excellent arm. Very strong baserunner, loads of talent for sure.....good luck MaClai !
  2. Ok, a couple of weeks in and maybe we should just trust that the coaches know what they are talking about! I think their original ranking is currently pretty accurate. Holmes or SK is #1 or 2.......HHS has established themselves at #3, Conner v Ryle will create the next couple (although CC is possibly worthy of one of those spots, although I have not seen them play yet)) Scott has struggled and is maybe positioned correctly, ND could be argued into the top 10 replacing NCC but overall its hard to argue the original top ten. Well done coaches, lol ! An overlooked team worthy of mention is Walton......played a lot of games early with success, scrappy team that may surprise some.
  3. HHS set a blistering pace and a flurry of 3's to build a 20 point halftime lead and never looked back. Martin had about five threes in first half as Barth sat with fouls. Barth took hers in the second half and the rest added in as she and Martin easily finished with 20+. Celaphane got hers in the second but too little too late as Scott was never in this game. No answers defensively for HHS guards & ball movement. Birds played extremely well in this one, their backcourt is impressive, if they get good production from the others they are legit for region contention. Interested to see if their upcoming matchup with Conner next week clears up where everyone stacks up early in season. Seeing Scott a couple of times now, they rely on Celaphane for a lot of scoring so they have to find other scoring. Secrist had productive game, Stapleton never got on track.....they need some others to step up.
  4. No reason in particular other then they have more "known quantity" than HHS with returning players. HHS not only has the well documented transfer but also are replacing almost all their scoring from last year so it remains to be seen how it all fits and who steps up. I'm not falling for the comparison of players or by class, lol ! Really though, these teams are very very close (and similar) so it could be either way ...... Just feel Conner is more defined right now and gives them a slight edge. One of the closer match ups personnel wise, hopefully they play a couple of times this year and we'll see.....
  5. I agree that Scott and CC are the obvious undervalued teams in this poll. I would have Scott at #3. Points taken regarding HHS but as noted, they are unproven and so I would drop them below at least Scott and possibly CC & Conner. You could have Holmes or SK #1 then Scott, CampCo, Conner, HHS, HC, Ryle, Notre Dame, Cooper....NCC at #11. Boone is my sleeper, not getting any love!
  6. What an exciting talent......can't wait to see her play again this year, congrats to this outstanding young lady !
  7. Are a couple of others in this group also new transfers........ Gomez was at Conner, maybe Gieske also?
  8. Highlands used to use the mascot "Blue Devils" but everyone knows if you are from Kentucky you have to hate the Blue Devils .....so they changed it to the present day Bluebirds, lol Actually, this is partially true, but I'll let someone else pick it up from here............
  9. I'll second this assessment..........looks like this Ryle team might qualify under the heading of this thread !
  10. They did lose their leading player in Jenna Martin who apparently "took her talents" to Highlands. They also changed coaches over the summer. Thus the questions about scoring potential and style of play............any insights?
  11. This year could be a real challenge for the Ladycats......w/out all-everything Kylie Orr and Starr ballhandling, it could be long season. I saw them in action at District tourney upset of NCC in entertaining game but wondering if they have anyone to fill those shoes for this season.
  12. A little surprised no chatter on this yet. New coach, new players......Wondering about depth on this team, where does their scoring come from, and what tempo do they set?
  13. You tell me....talk about the girls that are playing, apparently there are a bunch of seniors who are eligible, how many will play, are the underclassmen taking their spots, who is anticipated to "make the eight". Just trying to learn more and keep the thread on track.
  14. Ok, It's official. can we have a mod change the title of this thread? :isurrender: My question is the same...........are there other girls that are playing on this team year!:lol2:
  15. Ok, we got that out of the way ...again:deadhorse: Are there other players who are actually "cleared" to play that someone should be talking about ......maybe the list of other seniors.
  16. Let's put this to bed early before the thread is all about Jenna Martin. She enrolled at HHS and she participated in the Summer activities. When school year commenced, she did not participate in team activities until they rule on eligibility. Apparently no ruling yet (paperwork, request, input, etc is apparently complete and pending), not important until Oct 15. (or when competition starts) So about the rest of the team.................?
  17. I've witnessed the "home-cooking" comment. Helpful hint also: buy concession on the home side, it might be a little cheaper there  For those that have not been, the stadium is awesome, love the entry and the impressive manner that they have captured their history, worth seeing. To the game: I believe this DeSales team will be hard hitting, strong backs and very disciplined as always. I agree that they will likely pound and grind and challenge CovCath in trenches and test their endurance and will. This game is intriguing because it will be a real test for CovCath and will provide a gage for how far they have really come. If they can hang with team, on the road, I believe they will have earned some respect. Hoping it's close but think CDS will open margin a little late in game.
  18. The conversation is a state title so history will suggest that HHS/CovCath, Beechwood, NCC in that order would be the most likely. Speculating the near future, Beechwood changing classes would definitely lessen their chances. By what I'm hearing, HHS will not be down for long. Regardless, there is still BG & possibly Mayfield standing at the back end of any run from NKY at present. Despite great strides from 6A schools in NKY, they are not at the level with Louisville powerhouses yet, BUT, they were a stepchild a couple of years ago and now have 3 in top ten, certainly starting to get into the conversation. HHS or Beechwood is my choice for next....BTW, just because BG might whip HHS this year does not equate to the next yr or several years regardless of who they have coming up, a lot can change in a year or two. BG will be good no question but everyone else isn't standing still...............
  19. Crickets on Martin, who knows?..........even without her, this team has a lot of seniors, that could be interesting if RCC9 is correct about the underclassmen.
  20. That is a significant part of what this team will be about....who is projected to log most of those minutes?
  21. Sorry you missed the sarcasm.........I'm just along for the ride.
  22. I'm curious ............. what kind of numbers would Morgan have if Mr. Football candidate Hendrix was on his team?
  23. I don't think considering the outcomes (Madison, then not) that conversations took place. One read also reveals who among the participants in the car conversation reported this to the KHSAA :idunno:
