Covington Holy Cross 2016-17

Featured Replies

Basketball season for 2016/2017 should provide another exciting year. What should we expect from Holy Cross? Remember, please be constructive.

I was talking up Holmes but the low post players available on this team are what sets them apart from others in the region. The challenge will be keeping the pace of the game under control. I think teams will try to run this team and they can run also w/Tucker & others but can the post players run with them will be the key. If they can control possessions/create half -court pace to games, they will be hard to handle. It will be interesting to see how they progress & what identity they settle into...........

This.

Holy Cross will be very young, with just a few seniors and no juniors, as I understand it. Fans, onlookers should be patient.

This also dawns a new era: Holy Cross will have a new point guard after 5 years of Dajah McClendon.

I believe they are coming to Mason to play in the Murph tourney.

That is a significant part of what this team will be about....who is projected to log most of those minutes?

HC will have someone they seem to have had a lot of new faces that has came into the program if you know what I mean, so they will be just fine.

My guess is that Tucker will have to take that role. Heard Beal transferred to Boone. Can anyone confirm?

McClendon was a huge reason for what they were able to do over the last couple years. She will be missed. You couldn't press or pressure them too much with her at the helm. Now, I'm not so sure that will be the case. I know they have two really nice bigs, but my guess is that teams will turn it into a up and down event with them and I'm not sure they are those type of players. McClendon was able to force teams to play at their pace. I'm not sure what they have left will be able to control it like McClendon did. McClendon was also an absolute destruction on defense. She did a lot of things that made their defense very good. They may be able to plug in some young talent, but I just think they are a year or two away. They will beat teams because they have enough talent, but I also think they will lose games because of the youth. The future is bright there though!
