ATL, am I correct in thinking that Mr Football is awarded AFTER the completed football season (meaning after all State Championship games)? Also are playoff stats/playoff runs considered in the judges/those votings criteria or only regular season stats?

Every class should have a Mr. Football but I agree with the front runners as mentioned above.

I know they aren't your typical Mr. Football candidates but I'd like to get some buzz going for these guys in hopes they aren't forgotten about at the end of the year. 3 guys for Press and coaches to keep an eye on for all-state ballots, all are outstanding young men, with one completing Governors Scholar this summer and the other two gentlemen will be great candidates for the program.

 

Brandon Pruitt QB 51-78 for 1070 yards 9TD passing 268 yards/game 2 Touchdowns rushing. As of last week ranks 4th in the state in passing yards.

 

Jp Vaught WR 17 catches for 518 yards 5 receiving touchdowns, 1 return for a touchdown, 126 yards/game. As of last week was ranked 1st in the state on KHSAA and 15th in the nation per MaxPreps.

 

Patric Edwards RB/OLB 528 yards rushing on 68 attempts, 12 catches for 185 yards, 7 Touchdowns. Plays almost every snap, and approaching the 3,000 yard mark for a career as a JR.

Edwards is a Jr. and Vaught is a Soph. Pretty sure candidates need to be Seniors...

Without Dante Hendrix even being considered is a joke, not only that but having Tanner Morgan on the list when he isn't even the best QB in his own district just yet speaks volumes on how

biased the Mr Football list can be.

I am giving my perception...and how I would guage the majority of the State based simply off buzz.

 

The fact of the matter is Hendrix is at a disadvantage because he isn't a RB or QB. Absolutely a tremendous player..but at a position that doesn't get a lot of Mr. Football love and also not at a school that immediately resonates across the state.

 

Jake Johnson, by contrast, has a bit of an upper hand because he just set two high level State Records.

 

Noone is saying Hendrix isn't in contention or isn't a great player... just giving what I see from putting my finger to the pulse.

IMO, this is the single most overrated award in the state. Hands down

I think he is referring to Jerod Lonacker that plays for Cooper.

Well right now according to KHSAA Jarod Lonaker is ranked 4th in the state and Tanner Morgan is ranked 14th.

 

Lonaker on that site has less

pass attempts thru 3 games than Morgan but 200 more yards and almost twice as many TD's than Morgan.
