Isn't it already pretty trivial? Yes it's pretty cool tradition to be named the states best football player, but when you actually look at how its rewarded you realize just as most awards it becomes nothing but a popularity contest. When an award is determined more

by what colleges are recruiting said players than the actual best player in the state, well it loses some if its meaning if you ask me.

we will never know he doesn't play against good competition again I love the kid great talent hope he gets a offer he likes so he plays next level but we were discussing Mr Football and lack of competition will keep him from discussion.

Without Dante Hendrix even being considered is a joke, not only that but having Tanner Morgan on the list when he isn't even the best QB in his own district just yet speaks volumes on how

biased the Mr Football list can be.

 

I can't wait for the Ryle/Cooper game...I thought last year the Cooper QB outplayed him but we will see. I am a Ryle parent but pull for NKY football so I am unbiased. Should be a great game.

I agree it wont happen, but it should. Level of competition speaks volumes. For example, take a very good RB that gets 1,700 yards in 5A/6A against a tough schedule and put him in a weak 1A class. Numbers go up. Maybe he is asked to play defense and puts up big numbers there too. Suddenly he is a Mr. Football candidate, but the same caliber of player.

 

Voters look at numbers and numbers are affected by competition level. It is impossible to evaluate who the best football player is across all classes IMO with the current set up. It would make more sense to have a Mr. Football for every class. Would bring more people to the event and subsequently raise more money.

 

We will never know who the best football player was in a given year with classes, so why not recognize one from each class on their performance. Heck, isn't this the age of "everyone gets a trophy" anyway?

What I did say was at this point of the season Lonaker has as far as being a qb goes, had a better season according to KHSAA. Going into game 4 he was 4th in the state and Morgan was 14th. Lonaker had less pass attempts but over 200 yards more passing yards and almost twice as many TD's as Morgan. It can't be any clearer than that.

 

I personally think a very key stat was pass attempts. I say this because some may want to say Morgan runs an balanced offense and doesn't have to throw the ball around a lot to win games. The only problem with that line of thought is that Morgan has thrown it more than Lonaker yet Lonakers numbers were still better.

 

Just like last year in the NFL. Dalton had an MVP like season until he got hurt, does that mean in the end people would think he is better than Arron Rodgers? This just like last years NFL season was just that, about the current season.

Remember biggest stat for QB is winning that being said also is the QB the reason his team wins .then stats saying that I will give you 4 QBs

1)Walked Wood

2)Ryder Litten

3)Arnette(Mayfield )

4)Clark Payne (in my opinion he is the reason BG is so good we have seen teams take away Caruthers.)

I would have to add Zack Dampier from Danville to that list. 67-98 1003 yards 13 TD to 3 INT in 4 games. I know he won't get much attention considering he is at a small school but he is having a good season so far.

Zack might get his chance to play in one this year. He was one or two snaps away from playing in one last year. Only time will tell. The other qb's on your list are very good as well and their exposure will help their case.

Actually the numbers are the thing that certainly lies. When a team is winning by a large margin they either put in the twos or quit throwing the ball to burn up the clock.
