Highlands/Covington Catholic Predictions
As one of the parents who assisted in trying to clear the stands of the 5+ inches of snow, I must say that the thought of not clearing the visitor's section of the stands crossed our minds.... All kidding aside, the playing surface at DCM Stadium will be ready to go Friday night. As for the stands, let's hope for some sunlight and warmer temps this week so the job can be completed. The regular season meeting in September means absolutely nothing, other than the game is in Fort Thomas on Friday night vs. Park Hills on Saturday. Although the cold temps may slightly impact the passing games on both sides, I think the game, as is often the case in late season, cold weather venues, will be decided in the trenches. Whichever team can control the LOS on both sides will be playing next week in the 4A state semi-finals.

Who was the last RB to run for 250+ in a game against Highlands?
I would suspect the answer the question posed by the guru is more than 5 but less than 10 in the 100 years of HHS football. Will Baker play Tailback at UK. Runs hard and is quick but doesn't seem to fit the mold of recently successful RBs in the SEC. Is he being offered as an athlete or a RB?

Highlands 30 Ashland 15
Agree with Stinky. Ashland did a nice job defensively and contained Hoge very well. SO to Jr tailback Nick Kendall with 4 rushing TDs. In typical Highlands fashion, the offense took what the defense gave them and ran the ball north south very well. Very fine effort by Ashland. Baker in space is a handful.

Early Predictions: Bryan Station at Central Hardin
That was Highlands' recipe vs Station. Run, run, and run some more. Stay disciplined and between the tackles leads to a Hardin win. Once you get to the edges, Station's advantage kicks in. This has all the makings of one of the best 2nd round matchups. I'll take Station in a close game, 42-35.

Johnson Central/Covington Catholic Predictions
Will be tracking this game on BGP from David Cecil Memorial Stadium. In reviewing the 2 teams this season, from a JC fan, which team that you've played this season has the best overall defense? From a CCH fan, has your run defense improved over the course of the season? The game comes down to 2 storylines IMO. Can CCH stop or at least slow down JC's running attack and can JC stop CCH' s speedy wide outs. No disrespect to JC but has anyone on their schedule even remotely approached CCH's defense? Not that CCH's defense is the 85 Bears but it has to be better than most, if not all, of JC's opponents. I think it's a fair question. As for a prediction, I think the blue boys find a way to get it done once again. CCH 35. JC 29.

Highlands 43 Warren Central 0
Congrats to SO RB Jared Pulsfort with his 1st varsity TD.

Highlands/Warren Central Updates
Game time is 8:30 Eastern Time.
-
Johnson Central 42 Ashland 7
HHS and CCH will be underdogs when and if they play Johnson Central. Very exciting.
-
Elder (OH) 49 Highlands 35
Completely agree with you Stinky.
-
Does Johnson Central.....
Maybe JC could schedule a Christopher Columbus type team from Florida to get ready for the playoffs every year instead of the smaller out of state teams from Pennsylvania or teams from Canada.
-
Ashland/Johnson Central Predictions
Is JC's defensive line a strength of their squad this season?
-
Covington Catholic 56 Harrison County 0
This seems a bit excessive. I always thought it was strange that some schools do not permit fans on the field.
-
Highlands 36 Holmes 0
1st half. Several long TDs, at least 3 to speedster Venneman.
-
Highlands 36 Holmes 0
2nd half. A couple of starters rotated in for 1 or 2 series in the 2nd half, although most were on the defensive side of the ball.
-
Bryan Station 28 Scott County 23
Great win for one of the most athletic teams in the state.

Email to Highlands from Columbus (Fla.) head coach
We were saying the exact same thing during the game. Classy group from CC.

Kentucky High School Football Rankings for 10-6 - Class 4A
Highlands' scrimmage on 8/15/14 vs Trinity seems like an eternity ago, as the Birds have improved vastly over that period of time. This week's game vs Christopher Columbus, an 8A Jesuit school out of Miami, will be a very stern test. IMO - I think Bryan Station is the best opponent the Birds have played this season. Although you have JC at No. 3, I think a # of the others in your top 10 could beat them as their SOS is likely the easiest of all 10 ten teams listed.

Johnson Central/Greenup County Predictions
Is this a district game? Hard to gauge Johnson Central since they haven't played much of a schedule. This will likely be a running clock although Greenup County seems improved from the last couple of years.
-
Bryan Station 41 Lafayette 34
Station is now 4-2 with their only 2 losses to Highlands and St. X. Building a pretty good resume. If they put 4 quarters together they can beat anyone.

2014 Kentucky HS Boys Golf Thread
Congrats to Parker Harris, Senior at Highlands, who won the 8th region individual crown with a 69. Great competitor and an even better young man.

Highlands 2014/15
Having watched this group of young ladies for several years (my niece played from 2007-2010 for Coach Richey), I believe that they have an excellent chance of finally getting to Bowling Green. Very tenacious and unselfish group and as RCC9 says, any one them could score 20 on any given night, making them a matchup problem for practically every 9th region foe. All 5 starters return and if memory serves me correctly, all 5 averaged between 8-12 points per game last season. They can run up and down the floor if needed, or pack it in and play smothering defense. Looking forward to a great season.
