Friday night at 7:00 at Newport Stadium the NewCath Thoroughbreds will doing battle with Lloyd Juggernauts in Round 2 of the 2A Playoffs.

NewCath (5-5) comes into this one having already beaten the Juggs (9-2) back on Sept 26th, 28-0. Lloyd's only other lose came against Newport back on Oct. 24th, 51-19. NewCath is coming off a Round 1 playoff win, 43-0, over Trimble Co.. While Lloyd was victorious, 54-32, over Carroll Co.

Will this one be much the same as back in September, or do the Juggs have what it takes to pull off the upset?

Lloyd actually do not play that badly against NCC the first time around. But I think they would have to throw it better than last time and that might not be as easy given the cold weather. Lots of turnovers the first time these two played. Lloyd threw INTs and NCC fumbled it away. Both would need to clean that up.

I'm not sure how to judge Lloyd. They played very well against bad competition early and then it seems after the NCC game they kind of regressed at times. How they let Brossart hang around into the third quarter I have no idea. I think they kind of play to their level of competition and if they do that this game should be fairly close.

NCC isn't exactly a model of consistency either. They have times when they look very good against district competition and then times when they commit penalties and turn the ball over. Defensively they looked great against Lloyd last time but then they did not look so good against Beechwood (who is a very good team).

I think getting Lloyd off the natural grass helps but I still think this one will be fairly close even though NCC should win.

I will be pulling for my JUGG's however, I don't know if Lloyd has closed that gap between the two and again the loss to Newport on the turf. Lloyd has a nice team and doing well however, again strength of schedule is hurting the Jugg's. The Coaching staff has now been taking steps in changing that next year and adding some tougher teams. I wish the JUGG's the best and will be pulling for them. JD
