  1. Raiderbird is correct. Both Trinity and LexCath were real games not scrimmages. For those keeping score, HHS Frosh are 3-1 vs. N.Ky teams.
  2. Congrats to the Birds. Soph. Nick Breslin records the shutout. Great effort
  3. One of the players after the game said it was a likely broken collar bone. Kreeger is a gritty, hard nosed kid. Hope he makes a speedy recovery.
  4. Turnovers will be the key to the game. Neither kicker has the leg strength of past standouts Weinel and Talkers so both squads should be able to create field position with the return games. I'm thinking HHS by 10-14... HHS 38 CovCath 28.
  5. Of course he would never have the JV kids ease up, but he does have some control over the final score by the plays he calls, especially late in the game. As I recall from the Pendleton County game last year, HHS deferred in both halves, and ran the ball 90% of the time. Knowing that CovCath is next week will likely add a few more pass plays being called though.
  6. I would doubt that Coach Mueller would allow that many points to be scored by the Birds, especially against a classy guy in Coach Buchanan and the Royals. Game will not be close ... I would expect something in the range of 63-6. Let's hope the Birds refine their passing game in advance of the CovCath game on the 21st at DCM Stadium.
  7. I had the pleasure of meeting young Mr. Sutton @ a Bellarmine baseball showcase a few weeks back. Great kid. Glad to see him getting some props on the gridiron.
  8. I think that's one more than they threw in an earlier game this season. Hebel and Robinson for HHS are outstanding lineman.
  9. Which would allow the possibility that CovCath and Highlands could both win state titles in the same year... wouldn't that make the rest of the state mad...
  10. Good luck Rebels on the rest of your season! Back to the thread.. IMO I look for a fairly high scoring game Highlands defense will need to play better than they did early in the Boyle game. Highlands scores late and holds off Scott County to win 35-22.
  11. Colonels in a running clock late, CovCath 63, Dixie 6.
  12. Given the small size of Holy Cross, any chance the frosh birds could play Holy Cross' JV squad instead on the originally scheduled date?? I doubt Holy Cross plays much of a JV schedule.
  13. Seems the overall interest (save the proverbial Highlands' threads) is down a bit. As for St. X and Trinity this week, both name the score.
  14. IMO, NT Devin Bruns, followed by his brother Drake and DB Carter New, who had a nose for the ball. Devin had an impact on almost every play on defense.
  15. Is Ned Pillersdorf still affiliated with Piarist?
  16. Congrats to Jeremy Baioni as Coach of the Year. The future is bright @ HHS.
  17. I was just saying the same thing to someone last night. Go with your best in each game. Those who try and save their best for the next game will be watching from the stands vs the dugout.
  18. To answer you horst, Bo Schuh did not pitch and is still available! Thanks TOG I warned the NCC brass that Bo is a good one... And to lay off the high cheese if he's on the bump vs NCC @ Highland Park in the regional semifinals. Good luck to the remaining teams.
  19. NCC 1, Scott 0 FINAL in 8 innings. Heard Brandon Gray pitched a great game for the Breds. Who pitched for Scott?
  20. Mark has great instincts in CF. Great defense all around by the Birds and an excellent outing by Ethan Doty. Keep it going tomorrow vs NCC.
  21. I always expected Mac to play QB. I guess he'll have to wait his turn.
  22. Yes, Highlands occasionally practices under the lights once the time changes, usually on Thursday nights. That's one of the side effects of playing for a state championship every year.
  23. Highlands 13 Indian Hill 2 (@ Indian Hill). Birds get their bats going early and often en route to the win, lead by Lou Bunning's 3 run bomb over the right field fence in the 2nd inning. Doty, Kreeger, Bunning, Heck, and Schultz each throw 1 inning and Rick Raisor throws 2 innings.
  24. Kenny Ball caught, as he has done on a few occasions this year.
