  1. Good luck to a very nice man. Despite the difficulties he had at HHS, he always won and lost with class.
  2. Congrats Coach Richey. Very well deserved
  3. You are correct sir. Given the Title to this thread, NKY Freshman Baseball, I figured it would be helpful to those who don't know that young Mr. Enslen was, in fact, not a freshman.
  4. If the Birds can play for all 4 quarters, then the game should be a dandy. They've played several games where they have 3 excellent quarters (Simon Kenton comes to mind) but seem to have a lull in each game. If they can avoid the dreaded lull the Birds can pull the upset. Leah Schaffer will need to play big. My heart says the Birds but my head says NDA. Olivia Voskuhl is outstanding and can score from anywhere on the court. I see a lower scoring game but not a repeat of last year.
  5. The Birds squandered a big lead late in the game by choosing to shoot a few too many 3s. I counted 7 straight 3s at one point in the 4th quarter. No style points in this one. Moving on to face Ryle on Sunday. Shout out to Emily Parton who played well on both sides of the ball.
  6. Although Holmes and CovCath will be excellent next season, to say that they will be "way better" is simply ignorant. NCC returns Schulte, McDonald, Weyer, and Pangallo and will be very solid.
  7. Not sure Brady Gesenhues is playing baseball for HHS. I heard that he was concentrating on soccer. I think there are several other sophomores (other than Ramey and Mills) who would still be eligible for 15U SWOL ball this summer. Looks like the future is bright now and in the future for JB and the HHS program.
  8. Doesn't Chris Welch's (from Reds' Fox Sports Ohio fame) son play for Ryle? I thought he was a Jr. this year.
  9. Would that be Brother John LB?
  10. Bueter's 3s in the 2nd quarter proved the difference in the game. Great game by Nick True, who more than held his own defensively against NCC's bigs. Good luck to the HHS seniors and Good luck to the Breds in the 9th Region.
  11. The Birds were flat money from the line, icing the game with several free throws late. Brianna Adler continues to shoot free throws like Kyle Macy. Props to super subs Vanessa Fisse and Alex Combs, who each gave the Birds great minutes off the bench. Their defensive intensity and hustle on those 50/50 balls lead to several turnovers by NCC. Great game plan by Coach Richey.
  12. Based on the Breds' recent domination of the Birds, I agree with Sweeperboy that it would be an upset if Highlands won tomorrow night. Pulling for the upset in the rematch. Birds 57 Breds 49.
  13. Best 3 quarters of basketball the Birds have played all season IMO... against a very talented team no less. They stopped rebounding the 1st 4 minutes of the 4th quarter and gave SK several easy second and third shots, allowing them to get back in the game. If the Birds can put 4 quarters like that on Tuesday vs. NCC in the districts they will be advancing to the regional. Agree with RCC9 that the extra pass made all the difference tonight. Good luck to the Pioneers. They definitely have taken on the persona of Coach Stowers.
  14. Don't know the kid from Adam, but what a pressure packed situation for him. Must have been a great game.
  15. I recall the number of frosh names on the list of kids scheduled to try out exceeding 25. Numbers should not be an issue going forward.
  16. Sounds like the Birds played well. Holy Cross' gym is old school.
  17. Glad to see Ms. Hassert playing and doing well. She took quite a spill in the Highlands game a couple of weeks ago.
  18. NCC was 33-1 going into the state tourney in 1984.
  19. I think Scott County was lead that year by Frank Persley, who I recall was only a sophomore. Good memory NF.
  20. The most amazing thing about the 83-84 NC varsity team was beating Highlands 6 times, 2 regular season games and 4 tournament finals. Great chemistry and balance. Albrinck lead the team in scoring with 12+ and 3 other starters averaged over 10 points per game. Gary Schulte was a great motivator.
  21. Bella Luna on Eastern Ave in Cincy, just down from Terrry's Turf Club. On Wednesdays bottles of wine are 1/2 price.
