Senior night in Ft Thomas. Congrats to the 6 seniors!! You'll be greatly missed! Thanks for all you meant to the program.

Birds play well for three qtrs. they gradually pulled away for 3 qtrs, gradually worked the lead up to the mid teens and threatened to put the game away.

However, SK didn't let that happen. By mid 4th qtr, SK had gone on a great run, cut it to 3 and had the bird panicking for a couple minutes. The birds regained their composure and finished the game out. The birds were pretty much in control of this one except for their lapse in the 4th.

I was really impressed with SK. They are very fast and very intense on defense. During their run, their intense defense turned into offense. They are young and will be very good for the next couple years!

Highlands played a good game tonight. Shots weren't following early, but they stuck with their game plan and they eventually started to fall. They shared the ball well tonight and made the extra pass. Their defense seems to be pretty consistent. If these gals continue to play unselfish and rebound, they will be a tough out.

Best 3 quarters of basketball the Birds have played all season IMO... against a very talented team no less. They stopped rebounding the 1st 4 minutes of the 4th quarter and gave SK several easy second and third shots, allowing them to get back in the game.

If the Birds can put 4 quarters like that on Tuesday vs. NCC in the districts they will be advancing to the regional. Agree with RCC9 that the extra pass made all the difference tonight.

Good luck to the Pioneers. They definitely have taken on the persona of Coach Stowers.

Great win for the Birds on Sr nite in Ft Thomas.

Highlands shared the ball well tonite and played much like they did at the beginning of the season.

No heroes in this game, just a complete team win.

SK is a revved up team that is capable of beating many if not all teams in their Region, heck they were something like 28 and 4 going into last nites game.

It appears that they feed off of their coach who is strung as tight as ole Ronnie Dawn was at NewCath, talked and tried to intimate the refs the same way too, lol.

I have a feeling that SK intimates most of their opponents with aggressive, in your face, physical basketball followed by some very athletic and fast players.

Good luck to them 'neers the rest of the way out. :thumb:

Different kind of way to play and potentially watch basketball - to be intimate with your opponent.

Sorry, I got so excited this morning after reading and seeing the return of UKfan1, argurably SK's biggest fan, that I must of slipped up here.

Heck, where is he anyway, his Pioneers took one on the chin last nite from the "Cake Eaters from Ft Thomas" and he is nowhere to be found much like some other SK zealous posters. :thumb:

Iam goin to go on record early today and erase any ideas or thoughts of BigZig handing the Birds the end of season NKY #1 regular season ranking title as last nite was a lucky win and it was Sr nite and the refs were horrible so SK would have won if they had played at home or on a different nite.

Besides, ND destroyed Highlands earlier in the season and NewCath handily beat Highlands at Highlands. :thumb:

Congratulations on the win and good luck at district. 1-16 at the three point line and only 6 free throws made is not indicutive of a team that came out with aggression, so to the agressor goes the spoils.

Yeah, got to work on that:thumb:

Were you at the game last nite???

No, I had a sick kid last night.

Did Highlands cut down the nets? SK usually beats them first time for everything. :D

I was impressed with SK pt guard, she has two speeds, everybody speed and special speed.

#32 Bosse really looked the part but never really seemed to get into the flow last nite.

I think Highlands surprised SK with their closing speed and toughness inside.

Stowers took a T early 4th qtr that brewed since mid 1st qtr. He was visibly upset that SK was losing the rebounding category, refs let em play imo and Highlands took advantage of it.

No, but if Stowers were your football coach you would beat Ryle and Trinity and win state...

No, we stormed the court! We can't afford new nets, so they wouldn't let us cut them down. We're just a tiny little school with a tiny little budget. And we play football, who cares about girl's bball anyway! Quite frankly, I was surprised we even stayed this close to such a big school with such an outstanding basketball tradition. I was proud of our little girls for stepping up and chopping down the giant!

Since you are such a tiny school, maybe you should consider playing in the All A next year. Sorry, couldn't resist.

We are trying to kick some kids out of school so we can! Who told you???

Obviously just kidding for those of you that might take this too serious!
