Final from Highlands

This is such a shame that they don't seed and now NCC doesn't get to make it to the regional.

NCC had their chances trailing by 2 in the 4th period but Highlands played well down the stretch to grab the win. Neither team played all that well but maybe that was the effect of the big crowd and the pressure of the loser going home.

It bothers me. Iam with others on the argument of the non-seeding and I will be the first to say the team that draws the 36th Dist loser gets a real bunny in the first round,

 

NewCath's worst game will be better than the others best game ever and they will most likely still get bet by 30...

Oh and BTW, congrats to Coach Richeys' great game plan to shut down the Big girls for NewCath.

Congrats to the Birds. The Breds definitely had their chances, but just could not capitalize in the end. The difference in this game IMO.....Vanessa Fisse, don't think she missed a shot all night.

The Birds were flat money from the line, icing the game with several free throws late. Brianna Adler continues to shoot free throws like Kyle Macy. Props to super subs Vanessa Fisse and Alex Combs, who each gave the Birds great minutes off the bench. Their defensive intensity and hustle on those 50/50 balls lead to several turnovers by NCC.

Agreed 100%, however on any given nite NewCath could knock off one of the top teams in the Region tourney which makes for some good entertainment and also makes their opponent prepare for them instead of having the advantage of having a "bye" game.

 

No disrepect to Newport, Bellevue and Dayton but it just ain't right imo...

I was very impressed with the way the Highlands guards took care of the ball late in the game and drilled their FY's. I heard they were 23-26 from the line. That is simply amaziing and what I like to term "Cashing in".

 

Congrats Sweep, your daughter exudes some major toughness on the court.

 

Combs and Fisse played very well like Horst stated. Adler could put on her own Free Throw Shooting Clinics on Saturday mornings at the Armory and make Bank. Her form is unreal and her rythmn at the line is key.

 

Sad to see a loser in this game as NCC has a very good Team. Kiernan is an absolute beast. She rejected a shot, collected the ball and took it coast to coser for a layup. You dont see that too often from a Big.

 

Sheafer has some nice skills but she needs to step it up and assert herself more if the Birds want to win the Region.

 

Guard play and FT shooting were the Keys I saw as i caught the game from about the midpoint of the 3rd Qtr til the final buzzer.
