Newport Central Catholic 48 Highlands 37

Good effort by Highlands who kept it close all night. NCC never trailed after the end of the first period. Up 20-13 at half. Seven point margin heading to 4th period also.

To much guard play from the Breds. Have to find ways to get the bigs into the game earlier. Yes I understand teams will be focusing on the big men but in order to make an honest run in region and maybe more it all comes down to the big men for NewCath and Grant finding ways to get them the ball in the paint.

Told someone today that if NCC scores 40 they win.

Glad to see the Birds battle to the end.

Balance is one of the keys to winning against tougher competition. It was apparent Grant was asking them to work inside ... but tonight it led to several forced passes to the block and ill advised lob passes.

Best game of the year for the Birds! They played hard. Will wait for Q to weigh in on this one. His boy played really well. Got some good pics that I will send out to him soon. Good luck to the Breds!

Glad to see the Breds get the win! Keep on doing work.

Great effort by the Birds tonight. I was very proud of all the boys and the crowd was great.

I will have more insight soon. Best of luck to the Breds at Region.

Q, congrats to your son on a great career. I'm sure tonight was full of mixed emotions.

Ditto.

A great shared ride for Q and son. Congrats!

Kudos to the Birds tonight on a great team effort. If they would have played all of their games with that intensity and emotion they would have won a few more games this year. They definitely left it all out on the floor tonight and the parents of those boys should be mighty proud of how they finished out the season and/or their careers.

Bueter's 3s in the 2nd quarter proved the difference in the game. Great game by Nick True, who more than held his own defensively against NCC's bigs. Good luck to the HHS seniors and Good luck to the Breds in the 9th Region.

Good not agree more! They left it on the floor tonight! Mighty proud of the effort by all tonight!!!

Plenty of floor burns and Turner took out a fan and ref in the same night! The boy enjoyed the effort tonight and vowed to get the Breds when walking out!

Any players on the horizon that will allow HHS to score in the 60s on a regular basis?

Why does that mean you will win more games? Not sure why you are so hung up on how many points a given team scores in a game. What matters is if you have a chance at the end to come out with a victory IMO.
