Highlands 14 Dixie 7 (Frosh)

Featured Replies

Highlands wins 14 to 7 in a hard fought game.

Beal (HHS) 20 yard interception for touchdown, Doughtery extra point. 7-0

Doughtery (HHS) five yard run for touchdown, Doughtery extra point. 14-0

Ochoa (Dixie) 36 yard touchdown pass from quarterback, extra point good.

Dixie's starting quarterback put out of the game and left the stadium in second quarter - seemed serious.

Ochoa is the real deal. Just think if he would have stayed with his FTJFL teammates and played for birds too? I watched that kid play on the green team and he was something. Good win birds and I hope Dixie QB is okay.

Austin Beal for HHS had two interceptions. One for a TD and one to end the game.

Highlands Defensive line continues to dominate. Dixie could not run the ball between the tackles. Robinson, Hebel, and Lichtenberg stopped the run.

Cody Stamper had an int. and a nice run from scrimmage of about ten yards.

I have to believe Dixie's quarterback has a collar bone fracture the way he was holding his arm and he left the stadium shortly after coming off the field.

Highlands played just well enough to win. They will have to play better next week at Beechwood.

Ochoa would have been a great addition.

With Kendall out, Highlands needs to find another running back that can run the ball hard.

Stamper had a nice run tonight. He may be someone that can take some of the load off Doughtery.

What happened to Hergott?

Unsure about Hergott. He seemed okay after the game. I expect him to be back next week.

I assume Dixie has a pretty good Frosh team? Well coached?

Dixie's kids played hard to the end. Their defense played hard-nosed to stop HHS running game. The four man front stunted gaps and got good penetration. In a lot of ways they outplayed Highlands tonight.

Highlands has to expand their offense if they want to continue to win against better competition... The trips left, dive right works ok in the first half but in the last two games it hasn't taken long for the defense to figure it out and pretty much clog it up in the second half.... Put eight in the box... force them to throw... Should be written at the top of every scouting report against HHS... Tough to get good at the passing game when you throw three plays a game... But a win is always good... so congrats to the 'Birds

I think that's one more than they threw in an earlier game this season. Hebel and Robinson for HHS are outstanding lineman.

Both Starting QB's missed the 2nd half. Does anyone know what injuries the 2 had? Dixie's QB appeared to have a right Shoulder/collar bone problem. I never saw what happenned to Hergot, but he appeared to be doing well after the game. Tough to lose your starting QB at the Frosh level and still keep a good flow to the offense.

I am sure that Jolmstead will have strong feelings about how Mr. Ochoa did not fullfill his obligations to the school and feeder program he benefited from.

Personally it is good to hear that he played well and is having success for the Colonels this year.

Kreeger scored touchdown number 2 on a keeper from the 1 yard line. Extra point was good and landed somewhere in Death Valley.

really only got to see the last 2 and 1/3 quarters of the game. Thought Dixie played hard and physical and shot themselves in the foot in the 3rd quarter when they were driving and had consecutive procedure penalties. Highlands looked a little rusty after having been off for two weeks with no game competition. They to managed to shoot themselves in the foot on a key drive that would have put them up by 2 scores. Really do not think Dixie could stop them from getting 10 yards in 3 plays if that is what they chose to do. Result was an attempted field goal from 30 yards that was wide left. Sure things will be worked on this week as they get ready for the Beechies.
