This was a great win against a physical, veteran team and far from being ugly. Our kids just took it to them and refused to wilt under a lot of pressure. I believe they started 5 seniors. A good time to come together even if we were missing one of our key guys. Reese continues to amaze with his toughness and the rest of the team seems to feed off that

Even though Mercer is undefeated in the region, I would say that Pulaski is the team to beat especially since they will be playing at home. Mercer deserved to win last night because they made the shots when they counted. I would say that they would not look forward to playing Boyle in the tourney knowing that they probably wouldn't miss all the easy shots in the next game that they did last night. As far as the fouls called it seemed about even. Mercer seems to settle for 3's and jumps shots more than Boyle. Trevon does get by with some push offs, but what bothers me is that he walks real often and very seldom is it called. Saying that, he is a great player on the offensive end of the floor with a nice touch. Boyle still has a lot of work ahead of them to be a contender for the regional title. The one thing that they have going for them is they are fearless, regardless of who they are playing. Both teams still have a lot of basketball ahead before they have any chance for a rematch.

Much better stadium to watch a game than Western or UofL. I agree with some of the complaints, but those can be easily worked out. I hope it stays here.

If you want to talk about getting hosed, you have to first go to the interference call that led to Corbin's first TD. Walker made a great defensive play which was in no way interference and gave Corbin a first down deep in Rebel territory. There were questionable calls both ways, but in the end they probably balanced out. Boyle just dominated a good Corbin team and it could have been 47-21 if Boyle had wanted to push that last drive in, but took a knee instead.

There is a lot of work ahead for both Danville and Boyle to win their games against really tough opponents. That is why I see this post as being very premature. On the question concerning city limits and school district boundaries, the following is usually the case. Cities can change their boundaries and city limits by simply annexing surrounding area where they will provide services such as sidewalks, sewer, fire and police protection. School district boundaries almost never change, unless the city independent districts chose to become a part of the county school district. Hope we can still have a title town thread after Saturday.

Boyle has a big plus in getting Aaron Hatter back at defensive end. He is a handful as well at 6'4" 235 aggressive and can run. We missed him at times against E-town. Looks like a great matchup with Corbin. The winner will certainly have to bring their A game and sustain it for the full 48 minutes.

Central has always played well at home and that was a huge factor again against Belfry. Corbin is a very good team and can win there, but you can't let Central get up on you and expect to come back at their place

Congrats go to Mercer that certainly had a chance to be in the finals. Great coaching job down the stretch.

Friday night game time the winds are expected to be in the 30-40mph range. The running games will be even more important in this type weather. I think this will be another advantage to Boyle County. This can also be a big problem for your punting game. I hate to see these type conditions, but it is what it is, or will be.

Would like to see Mercer pull this win off. I saw both teams against Boyle and I think the Titans have a chance. Looks to be a high scoring game. Turnovers might decide a game like this.

After the Danville game where Chuck was very upset with the offensive play calls and verbally expressed this in his post game appraisals in the paper, Boyle has changed their offensive scheme considerably. They are utilizing their very good offensive line and two very good backs by running the ball about 75% of the time. They are calling pass plays that their young QB can handle, that is evidenced by his high percentage of completions. It appears that the heart to heart Chuck had with the offensive staff after the Danville debacle really has worked.

Glad to see Mercer get the nice win against the Flyers. I expect this game to go down to the wire also. Would like to see the Titans advance.

Boyle may not hold Wandale to 10 yards, but WH fans shouldn't expect a whole lot more in his run totals. The first game was no fluke as far as the Rebs containment. Boyle is very good defensively and you can be sure their game plan is again centered around Wandale both rushing and as a receiver. A great back like him might make a couple of outstanding plays in a game against a great defense like the Rebels have, but don't expect much more.

Boyle played reserves all of last half. Quit really trying to score even before halftime. Running clock at end of 1st quarter. West Carter scored twice against Boyle freshmen in last quarter with their starters in the whole game. Coach Brown from WC used to be an assistant at Boyle so Chuck really eased up early.

This comment is not to take anything away from Corbin. Boyle Middle was playing their 3rd game Sunday in less than four days. They won their conference championship on Thursday night, played at 10:00am on Saturday against a tough opponent and had to face Corbin at 11:00am on Sunday. I don't care how young you are, this is just too much football to play at your best in a tough game. Both teams certainly have a lot to look forward to in the future.

As good as Taylor was, this 8th grader at Boyle Middle, Jackson Smith is farther along now than Taylor was as a junior. Taylor progressed as a kicker each year he was in high school. This young man is already there with nearly perfect form and leg strength. He is also a very good football player as well as being a great kicker.

Going into a game like this, you want to just keep focus on the big picture and that is trying to make your team even better. Boyle has gotten better each week, but you always have things to work on for future opponents even. Boyle will get to play a lot of kids in this game, but you still want to give your number one units enough snaps to stay sharp. At this time of year it is very important to have fresh legs, heal injuries and be somewhat rested going forward into the tough part of the playoffs. The Rebels will win this one by as much as they want it to be.

Boyle just had too many very good athletes performing at a high level. I thought Mercer played about as well as they could under the circumstances for a quarter and a half. They had a good game plan, but just too much talent on the Rebel side of the field. Wish both teams the best during the playoffs.

I think everyone would realize why Reese has fewer tackles is because he is playing on a very good defensive team. he is a great Soph. defender.

Just curious. I thought I saw an interview clip where the Montgomery Co. High Football coach said that the Montgomery Co. Middle School won the state championship. What would he be talking about, or did I just misunderstand?

I saw Boyle beat Wayne at home and Collins on the road. From just watching those two games, I would place Wayne above Collins being totally impartial. I know you have to take the whole seasons work into consideration.

I think the week off will help Mercer, but not enough. Boyle seems to keep improving every week and are a very tough match up for the Titans. With the offense really clicking right now the Rebels are a really hard team to prepare for. On defense they are very, very good, giving up only 13 pts per game and only half of those have been against their 1st team. Their team speed plus excellent line play will be too much for the Titans. Boyle wins 42-7.

At the same time , don't blame Casey for a weak schedule either. They had to get on their feet over the years as well. They deserve success, even though they may not compete with the elite programs, they need to be congratulated for their progress and these kids need to feel great about what they have accomplished. They don't make the schedules. They just go out and compete. Who knows what may happen. This is why you play the games.

Even Cal has a bad recruiting year sometimes. Don't panic about LC, Boyle was going to get better , just like before when Chuck was here. LC has played a tough schedule and cycles of good players come and go. Boyle is on line to be good for the next five years. Their middle school team could win the Div. 2 middle school championship, whatever that means? I think they are averaging 55 points a game with the other Lanter kid at QB.

I don't think this will be a game that Wandale or his coaching staff is looking forward to. I predict this will be his lowest output of the season in both yds gained and points scored. He is very good, but Boyle is scary good right now and appears to be improving each week.
