So watching this position is new to me. So when my son transitioned from Outside Linebacker (1st team All-District the previous year) to Strong Safety I was a little weary. I knew that would be the position he would play if he plays college (5'10" - 170 lbs) but he had NEVER played it in the 13 years he has played football. He has had a solid year, but I'm not sure what his "STATS" should be, like I would if he was playing LB. Who are some of the people I can look up on Hudl and see them? Thanks for your input.

Start with his GPA and ACT scores if he is interested in playing after HS.

He will play somewhere regardless of his football stats.

Exactly. Stats are so overrated.

I appreciate the comments guys, but tell me some of your better secondary players. Would love to check them out. I'm a big Film guy. Like to see the kids make their reads and follow their keys and make the play. That's why I love football!! ;-)

Cooper Robb, Free Safety for Scott County. Has football offer to Air Force and is committed to UNC Charlotte for basketball.

Reese Smith: Boyle County JR. 6 picks for 162 return yds and 1 TD. 30 tackles.

Trevon Faulkner: Mercer Co SR. 5 picks for 81 return yds and 1 TD. 101 tackles.

Chase Hunt (SR) - Greenup County- 3 Interceptions (2 returned for TDs), 6 Deflections, 45 Tackles. First year defensive starter after transitioning from QB last season

Shawnkel Kight-Goff.. converted from DE to Safety. I am not sure he has updated his film to show F/S. 46 tackles, 3 INT 2 returned for TDs

Do coaches look for stats on tackles, picks etc., or do they look at 40 yard dash, vertical leap and those type of stats?

Never had a footballer in the house so not sure.
