National Letter of Intent Signings
warbeagle replied to Zidale's topic in KY Boys Soccer (High School)
Spalding University Men's Soccer has added its first three commitments for 2018. Jude Louis (Versailles Ky., East Jessamine), Connor Britton (Richmond Ky., Madison Central), and Jacob Barth (Newport Ky., Newport Central Catholic) will all be wearing a Spalding jersey this upcoming fall season. -
I agree. I think the delays were caused by see how many scholarships were left and if they had a scholarship to offer Jairus Brents. They waited until they had a confirmed full scholarship for next year. Patience was the key. If anything Chris Vaughn may have helped Jairus navigate the system to get what he wanted(full scholarship for next year at UofL). Nigel Kilby apparently didn't enroll early and isn't on Louisville list, perhaps when this cleared up, Jairus had a spot,.. but thats purely speculation

Trinity's front 3 on defense were about as good as they have had in recent memory. Auxier, McDuffie and Herron all were top notch. I understand football starts next week

Desales vs Trinity predictions

what happened with Powell? This game is at trinity, which will help Trinity. They did play last night in Madison County, so there may be some fatigue. With that being said. Trinity 63, Desales 48 -

Retired High School Numbers
warbeagle replied to brooksville's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
The way I understand it,the restriction is based of the referee signaling to the scorers table after a foul is committed. He signals the players number who committed the foul by showing fingers on his hand. The ref will signal the first number, close his hand, then signal the second number with the same hand. The restriction is the same in college basketball,.. but not the NBA. -

Collegiate is relatively young and has three transfers (along with Allen) who do the scoring. Offense revolves around Chez Moore(20.3 ppg 9.6 rpg). His inside presence will open up outside shooting. I also thought Allen was a better shooter than the numbers suggest. He is 37.1% from 3-point distance. This will be critical in tight games. Allen was 1-7 and 0-8 on 3-pointers in LCDs first 2 losses. There are no stats on the losses to Shawnee and Male. If Raceland can shut down Moore on the inside, or Moore gets in early foul trouble, Collegiate will struggle. Raceland relies on more seniors and has an older team. If there is one thing to watch for , it is Chez Moore from Collegiate. How good is he? and how good will he be over the next few years(he is a soph.). -

Collegiate's schedule is awful,.. and i mean AWFUL. Sure they are 17-4, but they are Litkenhous rated #13 of 18 in the region and have lost to (5-15) Shawnee(who was rated #15 in the region). When they had an opportunity to step up against solid competition, they lost 83-45 to a 12-8 Male team. Its a good record and I am glad they are enjoying victories , but that schedule,.. ugh. They have St X(11-8) coming up as their only other big chance to step it up. Raceland 70.2 Litkenhous Collegiate 58.8 Litkenhous my prediction Raceland 61 Collegiate 48 -
2A Classic set to launch in 2019

It may make the sweet 16 even stronger. When the people pushing class division come knocking,.. they are told that smaller schools have an opportunity to just compete with smaller schools AND see how they stack up against the big boys. What else do they want? Looks like it would be 6-7 games for the winner. have the regions in early December and they final 16 in late january. Perhaps even have the tournament game count as a true region game. -
Looks like Ty Scroggins is out of consideration. Apparently he said he would listen if contacted,. but that never happened.

I have heard that Coach Walsh was a favorite to be the next coach. There is certainly a number of solid assistants on the staff.

He may not be the best but Ray Spaulding at UofL has really improved. 11.4 points per game a 9.3 rebounds. Almost averaging a double double. With his height and his wing span, he could be playing himself into a NBA contract
-
Stan Turnier lights it up behind the arc (5/7) and gets 17 points. He can shoot it, and is probably Trinity's 4th option on offense.

Trinity/St.Xavier Predictions
warbeagle replied to Tigerpride94's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
This one is a bit tricky. Bellermine's Gym is 2,200, not enough space. Freedom Hall is 17,000, a bit much. Broadbent last year was a poor venue for basketball. If they could find a gym that was about 4-5,000 it would be about right. -
Trinity/St.Xavier Predictions
warbeagle replied to Tigerpride94's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Actually the Rocks are very young. Only 2 seniors. Both teams are led in points and rebounds by Seniors(Scrubb and Keisler) who have very similar stat lines. Scrubb 19.4/7.1 Keisler 18.1/8.1 If X extends to defend the 3, then you open up the middle for penetration. I believe Trinity is the best 3-point shooting team in the state as of last week, so keeping that number down is key. I think X may best be served by having tremendous full court pressure. Trinity has played a difficult schedule and has been tested early in the season. They have one mutual opponent. They played Seneca 4 days apart in early December. Trinity won 70-57, St X lost 62-61. I believe Trinity is the much better team, with better individual players. This however is a rivalry game and anything can happen. Worse case for X is Keisler in early foul trouble. I predict Trinity by 17. Good luck to all.
