Do coaches look for stats on tackles, picks etc., or do they look at 40 yard dash, vertical leap and those type of stats?

Never had a footballer in the house so not sure.

I figured that may be the case. It seems the pros always focus on the numbers from the combine. Hard to scout a lot of kids so thought colleges may need that type of info to sort thru the kids.

I agree on the tackles part for the Free Safety, not so much on the strong because he may be walked down as another linebacker or blitzed or even in the flats in some cover 3.

Really depends on the Defensive scheme that your team runs? Safeties are not longer 15 yard deep last line of defense type guys. In alot of schemes they are asked to be a player for stretch/toss,quick screen game and have option responsibilities. In todays game Safeties have to be very dynamic against the run and the pass. Blanton from JC (2016) comes to mind as the best example of this

I think everyone would realize why Reese has fewer tackles is because he is playing on a very good defensive team. he is a great Soph. defender.

How many did he have?

9 Ints. Including the clincher to help them bring home the state championship!! Their whole Secondary is really exceptional. He is easily one of the best corners in the State. 1A and NKY don't always get all the recognition but people know who he is for sure!!
