If I'm on the other sideline, I'd tell my team that the other team is scared of them. I'd tell them that so what if they just got an on-side kick. We're going to stop them, and then we're going to kick deep. And then we're going to stop them, get the ball back and score. And go from there. I'd use the on-side kick as motivation for my kids. Don't get me wrong, if I were a head coach I'd prefer to get the ball off a short kick though. I'm young and I love creativity in football (love Malzahn, CKelly, Petersen), but I hate this non-traditional, gimmick garbage.

Yeah you sure do. Turnovers for scores, punt returns, field position. Maybe I'm crazy, but I enjoy going on defense. Everyone wants to outscore the opponent and control the possession of the football, but there I don't see how anything could be more satisfying than going out, hitting a team in the mouth and shutting them down. And I will never support an onside kick up two scores.

Gutless football IMO. I don't mind teams onside kicking everytime because its great field position, but I think its honestly really sad. I'm of the mindset that I want to kick it deep, smack a team in the mouth for 3 plays & make them punt, and then drive it down the field to score and start it all over again. I think the coach for this team is really creative, and I don't mind the random onside kick every now and then (Sean Payton's in the SB comes to mind), but I'm too much of a traditionalist to enjoy this type of strategy. However I can endorse never punting, I like that mentality.

How so? If someone judges another member of BGP by what they post on here, I think they're going a little too extreme.

Same reason people hate UK basketball fans, Ohio State football fans, etc. but don't say a word about Texas A&M's football fans. Winning and talking is totally different IMO. I think its like being called fat. If you're skinny and someone calls you fat, no big deal. If you're a larger person and someone says the same thing, you may get your feelings hurt. JMO.

Anytime you're trying to build a culture there are going to be growing pains. I do not know Coach Clark but at a school that size and with big numbers I can't blame him for trying to 2-platoon. Its really what most coaches at the non-traditional power schools dream of. Give him some time and support him. If the numbers continue to increase, you may find that you like the new coaches ways. Changing the culture of a program takes time, my guess is you'll see some improvement over the next few weeks.

I really like UK#1fan. I don't know if he is a "character" poster or if he's serious, but he is the man on the HS boards on here IMO. No one can stir up the conversation like he can on here. Maybe most of us don't agree with him much of the time, but even if he is serious he's entitled to his opinion.

I can see both sides of it. I'd rather go for two in that situation personally. I'd like to get it there or not get it there to have a better idea of how the play the rest of the game. I'd hate to come all the way back only to lose on a missed 2 pt. conversion.

Ashland will be favored, but they should not over look Raceland. Raceland is going to have a very nice team this year IMO.

Congrats to the Rams on the win. They have some really nice players. Messer is going to be a very, very good player over the next few years. The Raceland backs ran well, the lines looked good, they should have a very good year.

I hope Raceland along with our players at EC have an injury free night. The season is finally here, our guys are excited and I guarantee the Rams are too.

Hanging out with some buddies. We don't play until Saturday, and a night to relax would be really nice.

I'm hoping Boyle takes this one. Not because I have a dog in the fight, but because I think it will make the season go that much better. If Highlands isn't seen as a guaranteed title winner, I think this class race could be fun all year long.

I wish him alot of luck. Its always so tough to replace a legend. I hope he continues the success Bell County is known for.

As usual I never make predictions about NEKY games, but I will be at this one. Hope to see alot of my old Ram buddies out. I hope both teams have a productive and injury free scrimmage that gets them ready for the season.

While I think T is the class of KY, I think Highlands will make a good showing against them in the scrimmage and would give them some trouble in a real game. Anyone can be beat though, so while T is the heavy favorite in 6A I would never count chickens before the eggs hatch. That said, Trinity seems absolutely loaded. And I'm not and will never be in favor of a public-private separation, I don't see how Trinity being this good hurts KY football. It gives every team something to keep working for, even the other state powers.

So sad to hear this kind of story. Even though its been really taxing, I'm glad we've been going late in the evening. Practice in the summer is so scary.
