  1. 1. Who will win?

Raceland makes their annual trek to Putnam Stadium to face Ashland. Rams come off a solid win against an upstart East Carter squad at home while Ashland makes their home debut after making a statement with a 20pt win on the road to Lawrence Co. Just a few thoughts, can the Rams sustain drives to keep the Tomcat offense standing on the sideline? Can Ashland establish the run, something East Carter couldn't do well vs. the front of Raceland? Will Ashland go to the air, mix it up? Will we see Massey make a splash play? Or will be see Caudill impose his will?

Not talking smack here but, if the Rams drop punts and make many miscues this Friday it could be bad for them. Ashland's front is bigger and all of them can run to the ball.

No your not ballbrain. What your saying is all true. The RAMS will have to play a great game in every phase. I went to the Tomcats and Dawgs game. The cats play very physical. So did the Dawgs. By spreading the field and sending multi receivers out and having a very mobile QB that sees the field as well as any I've seen. It's going to be hard for the RAMS to stop the cats. I don't know how we can slow down the cats. If there is a way I'm sure our coaching staff will implement it in to game plan. One thing is for sure. The RAMS must sustain long drives and keep the cats offense off the field. I guess I just answered the question on how to slow down the cats!! man.. lol

Ashland is the favorite, and no one expects the Rams to win this year. Sound familiar?

You know, it really does sound familliar. I know the coaches would say it's very familiar. LOL This year's seniors can remember watching the Rams come into Putnam and win. Hopefully they won't be looking past Raceland this time. I for one would be surprised if they do.

 As in every year but maybe one? Usually the only ones in Putnam Stadium that expected Raceland to win were the Ram players themselves and they knew they could win.

Yes Ashland is and should be favored this week. One thing that I will be looking for is if the freshmen and soph's that play so much at Raceland will let the Tomcat opener,crowd,etc.. get to them. On the years when Raceland did well at Putnam there were more upperclassmen/experienced players and they were not intimidated at all by Ashland. As others have stated the Rams are going to have to shore up the special teams play. Rams, don't think for one second that Ashland overlooked your special teams. They will go after you hard in that area. Another point made was being able to keep the powerful Tomcat offense and all their speed and playmakers of the field. Turnovers, penalties, mental mistakes all will be magnified in this one.

I can predict without question that the Raceland kids will come to play and play hard from the opening kick through the final horn and the coaching staff will have prepared them well :thumb:. The only times that I have ever been dissapointed in a Raceland football team were rare times when they came out flat, didn't play hard or didn't hit. From what all that I know and have heard about this team is anything but that. They have great attitudes and work ethic.

The Rams always play hard. I've watched them bring some FINE teams into Putnam. The Tomcats better come ready to play. I look for #74 (O'Brian) and #80 (Gregg) to put a lot of pressure on the Ram QB.
I look forward to watching this one. I'm excited to see Cade O'Bryan play. Enjoyed reading his quote about the defense in the paper. I'm glad he's doing well, he's obviously taken alot of his athletic skill from his mother's side.

I was pleased with the front 5 play offensively and defensively Friday night but Ashland's front line will pose a bigger and more physical challenge. I was also pleasantly suprised at the play of our underclassmen. I am not sure how we will be able to tackle in open space with the skill set that Ashland puts on the field. I hope it is a competitive game.

Some may think me crazy (no comments needed), but I think this is going to be a very interesting game. More interesting then many may think. What both teams bring to the table kind of plays into the other teams weaknesses. I really can't wait to see what happens.
