BTW, A player from Ashland pointed to one of our coaches after the Lawrence Co. game and informed him that, "Get ready! We are kickin' your "butt" next week!" The Tomcats are very confident.

Doc that is what a player should think. Any player on any team should be confident going into any game. Should they think they are going to lose then they will. I am sure that the Ashland coaches will have the Tomcats ready to play.

On a side note I understand that Ashland will be having a reunion of the 1967 state championship team this Friday and Saturday. Daily Independent editor Mark Maynard is working on a book about that team. That should be a good read, Maynard is a class individual.

Every year I read hundreds of posts from Ram land. I can't remember any disrespectful talk from you guys. I have had the pleasure of competition and friendship with many of you over the years and I can honestly say I've enjoyed both. Looking forward to this weekend.

Thank you ballbrain. Ashland has always had great posters on here. I feel that Graybeard and Painter have become very good friends of mine and I am good friends with 3 of the coaches from Ashland. I have really enjoyed the mutual respect from the 2 schools. I just really like it that Ashland doesn't look over us because we are a 1A school. They just look at us as another opponent.

Respect reaps respect as far as I'm concerned. We may be a lot of things and some may not like us, but most Ram fans are pretty good people. Like doc said, Ashland has never treated us as inferior 1A opponents, they have respected what we bring to the table, and I don't know how we could not respect them for that.

 

Just two programs that have great support and love their teams. It's a win win for both programs as far as I'm concerned. And for anyone that doesn't believe that, show up Friday and look at the crowd.

So some teams dp not respect you guys because you are 1A? Just because your 1A does not meant that you cant teach respect to a disrespectful, larger class team. Just take them out back to the wood shed and they will respect you. I cant recall anybody ever showing us disrespect and its because we take bigger schools to the wood shed often

Oh, we do that. We don't have any 6A schools in the area, but have earned the respect of everyone else in the area. It's just that some teams show that respect more then others. And Ashland is one of those programs that doesn't care to say that they respect us. I think we are not using the correct word when talking about what we are talking about, and I don't think there is a word for what we are talking about. Do teams respect us? Yes. Do all team relay it verbally? No.

 

I will relay a story that I think illustrates this point: Ashland's Coach Hart took his QB's to a QB camp several years ago. At the start of the camp, the coach running the camp had all the coaches stand with their QB's and asked the coaches to say what they wanted out of this camp. Each coach took his turn talking about wanting to win a state championship, to win the district, to win a regional title. When it was Coach Hart's turn, he said, "I want to beat a little school by the name of Raceland".

 

I think that illustrates the fact that the Ashland program respects Raceland.

The Rams and Tomcats have hooked up a few times during their histories, but for the past 6 straight seasons, this game has been on the schedule. During that consecutive stretch, the records are 3 – 3. Ashland finally got back to .500 last year. What I hope happens on Friday night is we match that 3-peat whoppin’ that the Rams dealt out in 06,07 and 08.

 

Respect? You better believe Ashland respects Raceland.

Some may think me crazy (no comments needed), but I think this is going to be a very interesting game. More interesting then many may think. What both teams bring to the table kind of plays into the other teams weaknesses. I really can't wait to see what happens.

 

I have found over the years that arguing with Ram or Guru is a great way to show how ignorant you really are, but i'm going to show my ignorance again! I disagree with you Ram. I think Lawrence County and Raceland are on about the same level and I watched Ashland really beat up my dawgs. That game wasn't as close as the 20 point score seemed to indicate. It stayed that close because LC has allot of heart but talent wise Ashland is a really good team this year. With that being said I think Raceland will not be able to stop Ashlands running game. Ashland will win this game by 4 TD's or more in my very humble and usually incorrect opinion. I hope not because I have always respected Raceland team and fans. I just don't think this is one of those times that heart beats out talent.
