Respect reaps respect as far as I'm concerned. We may be a lot of things and some may not like us, but most Ram fans are pretty good people. Like doc said, Ashland has never treated us as inferior 1A opponents, they have respected what we bring to the table, and I don't know how we could not respect them for that.

 

Just two programs that have great support and love their teams. It's a win win for both programs as far as I'm concerned. And for anyone that doesn't believe that, show up Friday and look at the crowd.

Absolutely! I agree with this entire post. I respect any program that can show enough in them to return that respect without being ask to before hand. I think that programs like Ashland,Raceland, Lawrence Co., Russell and others are confident enough in their own programs past in that that they have great fans that love football and love supporting their kids. These type fans support their teams every season and not just the winning ones. That kind of pride and class in a program promotes winning and I have to beiieve that is one reason why that losing seasons are very few and far between.

Teams,programs and fans that have good seasons for a few years and claim tradition are the ones that usually remain that way. A few good years from time to time, claim tradition and as soon as things are not great all the time the so called fans are no where to be found.

Every year I read hundreds of posts from Ram land. I can't remember any disrespectful talk from you guys. I have had the pleasure of competition and friendship with many of you over the years and I can honestly say I've enjoyed both. Looking forward to this weekend.

I have found over the years that arguing with Ram or Guru is a great way to show how ignorant you really are, but i'm going to show my ignorance again! I disagree with you Ram. I think Lawrence County and Raceland are on about the same level and I watched Ashland really beat up my dawgs. That game wasn't as close as the 20 point score seemed to indicate. It stayed that close because LC has allot of heart but talent wise Ashland is a really good team this year. With that being said I think Raceland will not be able to stop Ashlands running game. Ashland will win this game by 4 TD's or more in my very humble and usually incorrect opinion. I hope not because I have always respected Raceland team and fans. I just don't think this is one of those times that heart beats out talent.

 

Jude, my friend, you give me too much credit. I always say, "It's better to be lucky then good", and I get lucky a lot.

 

I understand your rational for you prediction, and heck, you may be right. But, I just think Raceland is going to supersede a lot of expectations this season. They have already superseded mine own, after one game. Raceland is young, but many players have stepped up and are working like veterans. Is Ashland very talented this season? Yes, they are. And they not only return talent, they return a lot of experienced players which may prove to be the difference in this game. But, I expect Raceland to surprise them in some aspects of the game.

 

Will I say Raceland will upset the Tomcats? No, I won't make that prediction. But, I know without a debt Raceland is going to grow a great deal from this game. And, who knows, Raceland may be in position for the win at the end of the game.

Oh yeah....they do that.

 

The Rams and Tomcats have hooked up a few times during their histories, but for the past 6 straight seasons, this game has been on the schedule. During that consecutive stretch, the records are 3 – 3. Ashland finally got back to .500 last year. What I hope happens on Friday night is we match that 3-peat whoppin’ that the Rams dealt out in 06,07 and 08.

Oh no you don't. I have missed Painter being around and almost bought into his skewing of the facts in an effort to make the Tomcats look like they are the underdogs in the series. All things you have said are facts, but a liberal use of the facts. Ashland leads the series 14-7.

Thank you jude, LC/Louisa h.s. and Raceland have a ton of respect for one another. Our two schools have had some great football games through the years, "slobberknocker hits" on every play. Most games were close and all were hard fought. One thing that both Raceland and LC are known for is how they will hit people. We may lose some games but there will always be alot of sore bodies for a while afterwards,lol.

Yes, Painter and Ram.......poor little Ashland has to play big ol' Raceland. I feel so sorry for those Tomcats, they schedule this one as an early season home game, of course they want schedule a loss. Painter, I love you guys and I was born at night but it wasn't last night. :sssh:

I think the RAMS need top use some "Rope-a-Dope" strategy. It worked for Ali against Foreman, maybe it will work Friday night @ Putnam Stadium.:thumb:

Well, when it comes to game preperation, our staff is second to none, so I'm not worried about that. Ijust hope we can execute it and find a way to hang around long enough to find a way to win.

Whatever it takes. I have full confidence in our coach and staff to have the Rams prepared. Coach Maynard is a very good coach and at his best at having a team prepared to play. He wore us out when at GCHS snd I was glad to see him join the Raceland staff when he did. With coaches Vanderhoof, Ross, Michaels, Jones, Snyder, Heck, Conley and others through the years Raceland has been blessed with excellent coaches and coach Maynard just joins that group. I am proud of all our coaches and staffs through the years.

I have said the same thing over and over with regards to our coaching staff. Our kids will be prepared and given the keys and plays to win. IF they execute the things and remember the tendencies taught them this week, we have a chance.

If it is close late in the 3rd quarter, I'll feel a lot better. We were winning 7-0 in the first quarter last year and still ahead 7-6 in the second quarter when Malik Massey's cleats apparently caught fire, due to the burnt field on his track to the endzone, and he quickly motored about 60 yards for a score and Ashland never looked back and we never looked up. This year's squad has to learn how to keep fighting and never give up. That positive attitude is a must!
