#1 Beechwood vs. #5 Raceland (1A State Final)
On your Mark (again), get set: Rams assistant Lewis making ninth state finals appearance Rocky Stanley | The Daily Independent Nov 29, 2017 RACELAND Tradition-rich Beechwood doesn’t have the only state championship game experience in Friday’s Class A football title matchup with newcomer Raceland. It only seems that way, with Beechwood seeking a 13th title. Twelfth-year Raceland assistant coach Mark Lewis recalled his first days on the staff following a highly successful 33-year stint working alongside legendary Bob Lutz at Ironton. The Fighting Tigers advanced to eight state finals in Ohio, winning titles in 1979 and ’89. “The kids ask me about that all the time,” Lewis said. “When I got over here, that’s all (the coaches) talked about. My first thought was, I’ve been in eight of them and they had not experienced this opportunity.” On your Mark (again), get set: Rams assistant Lewis making ninth state finals appearance | Sports | dailyindependent.com

I don't hate to say it ... no, they won't lol. This isn't Phelps, Harlan or Tolsia walking through that door.

To my knowledge, Raceland is healthy.

The Class 1A Eastern Surprises
It might be a surprise, but saying Paintsville lost because they were looking ahead is weak. If they were looking past a regional championship game against a quality opponent then they got what they deserved. Bottom line is the Rams outplayed Paintsville. Looking at Paintsville's schedule, they only had two teams push them for four quarters besides Raceland (Hurricane, WV a 17-13 loss, & Hazard - a 12-7 win). Raceland has played a good solid schedule and had several close games with quality opponents so they were battle tested. Paintsville hadn't really been pushed outside of the two mentioned games. Sometimes that makes a big difference later in the season & the playoffs.

I'll take the RAMS at home in a close one.

Raceland 31 Paintsville 14
Caught Ram-handed: Raceland shoots away from Paintsville with two Lewis pick-sixes | Sports | dailyindependent.com PAINTSVILLE Gunnur Lewis had had enough. Raceland’s sophomore defensive back had borne the brunt of Paintsville’s passing, and with the Tigers driving for the potential game-winning score in the final minute, Lewis did something about it. “I just knew they kept picking on me,” Lewis said, “and I was gonna get one sooner or later.” Make it two. Lewis delivered two pick-sixes in the final 53 seconds to preserve the Rams’ 31-14 victory in the Class A, Region 3 final at Memorial Field on Friday night.

Can Raceland beat Paintsville?
Pretty sure that was answered last night.

#4 Johnson Central vs. #2 Ashland (4A Quarterfinals)
Greg is a great guy. His son (Brett) was a standout player at Raceland a few years back (2005-08 football seasons I believe). His daughter was also a good track athlete.

7 person crews from this point on in the playoffs- what does that mean?
Means more bad calls that officials can't explain, or no calls that are obvious.
