Who wins this matchup? Can Raceland continue its dream season? Can Pikeville knock off another team on its way back to state?

Should be a good one. This is a tough pick IMO. Raceland coming off a nice win that a lot didn’t expect and Pikeville advancing, which wasn’t a big surprise to me. Good luck to both teams.

Don't know much about Raceland, except the fact that they have to be a real good football team to knock off a high powered Paintsville team tonight. I do know their depth chart looks pretty good, and they have the numbers to confirm that. Not bad for a class 1-A team. I think Pikeville has around 40 - 43 something like that. The thing with Pikeville is, they may be small in numbers, but everyone is so young, and they have built depth all season long. Playing a tough out of district schedule has been a plus for them too. Gotta go with my Panthers on the road in this one, but like I posted twice this week, anything can happen on any given football night.

I cant' believe Pikeville has made it this far. I'm having flashbacks from back in the day. For a long time, I would follow Pikeville, Prestonsburg and Breathitt County on their playoff runs.

I just can't see our kids losing at this point. They are focused and on a mission to get to Kroger field. All the success and tradition that Raceland has and we've never been to a state championship game. I think that changes this year. Our defense has been phenomenal all year and the last two weeks has been ramped up another notch. Against two teams who have ran the ball very well all year (Paris & Paintsville) 70 yards rushing between them. Should be an electric atmosphere Friday night and we roll on to play for the big one.

Like your Panthers, Raceland has played a brutal schedule. I think that prepares the kids for post season play, especially after the first round. The only 1A teams that Raceland played in the regular season were Paintsville and Fairview in our dist.. Our losses have been to 3A Ashland (Lost in reg. final to JCHS), Portsmouth West, OH. (were ranked #7 in their OH. Div.), 2A Sommerset (lost to Danville in Reg. Semi) and 1A Paintsville (our Dist. Champ)

4A Ashland

I remember a time earlier this year when I was trying to give Pikeville some love, but some weren't feeling it because they weren't "competing" with their schedule. I feel better about my assessment.

Pikeville was in the BGP top 10 all year, so they aren't overlooked or sneaking up on anyone. They needed the full season to get all the new parts working together. Congrats to them on getting better and better.

Seeing if Pikeville has a chance to exploit a mismatch. Pikeville has some tall wide outs and will exploit the mismatches.

Corners are both atleast 6ft, very fast, and cover really well. This pass defense really compliments itself. Pass rush aids coverage and coverage aids the pass rush. Very well balanced defense.
