Pikeville at home defeated Raceland in the Region semis in 2012. Raceland at home defeated Pikeville for the Region Championship in 2013.

I don't think the game will be live. The guy who broadcast the Raceland games live through youtube last year hasn't broadcast any Raceland games this year that I know of.

One interesting note / notes on the Pikeville / Raceland series .....although this has never been an ongoing or annual game between these two, I believe that I am right in saying that regardless of if or where either team was ranked, the home team has won. I can only think of a couple of regular season games between the Rams and Panthers. One being in the 80's when a Bill Tom Ross coached Raceland team upset a top ranked Pikeville team, I can't recall if they were #1 that particular week or not but I know that it was very high. One of the Panthers state championships may have been in that season or the one prior to the meeting.

Anyway .....none of the above has a thing to do with this Friday, was just something I thought of. Maybe Ram or another poster from Raceland or Pikeville may recall and give more info.

Raceland played Pikeville in the Coal Bowl at Pikeville in 89 and Pikeville won behind JJ Bailey. The next season, 90, Pikeville traveled to Raceland and Raceland upset the Panthers. I remember it well, DeAnthony Honicker was across from me all night long. He went on to play at UK with former Raceland, and current Russell, coach TJ Maynard. After the 90 game, my uniform was unreadable, everyone else was clean, me and DeAnthy battled all night. Two great games in the series.

 

And, to my knowledge, the home team has won every game in the series.

If that's what you believe, don't hate to say it :thumb:. We're all about opinions here and besides, if everyone agreed on everything then this would be a pretty boring site ....and on your prediction , you could be right. I hope not , but you could be.

Its been a while since I gave a sermon to the Raceland team on here but here it goes .....

Ram Players .....I am sure that your coaching staff has an excellent offensive and defensive game plans in place. You guys will probably meet, practice / run thru all on Thanksgiving Day. Everything is in place and I have No Doubt that game plan will work, That Game Plan is Useless .....UNLESS YOU EXECUTE IT !

So, Before you go out on that field on Friday night, Look at yourselves in the mirror and tell that person (bc you can't lie to yourself) if you are going to give 100 % on Every Play, that you are going to have your teammates back and do whatever it takes to Win !

Tomorrow is Thanksgiving and it's about time for the "talking game" to be over. All of us old farts, has been's, never were's, never will be's and anyone in between to leave it to the ones that will decide this game ....The Players and Coaches, Staff of the Raceland Rams and Pikeville Panthers ! I hope / pray that both teams stay free of any injuries.

Thanks to everyone who has rooted for the Rams to advance. No matter how this game goes, the Ram Fans appreciate all the people from around the state that have wished Raceland well and have said they would like see the Rams advance to the Finals for the first time.

I was just informed this a.m. about the RWHS has set up OVER FLOW / EXTRA PARKING at two locations .....The Assembly of God Church and the Methodist Church parking lots . Both are located just past Ram Stadium on Rt. 23. SHUTTLE BUS SERVICE Will be provided from the parking lots to the stadium and will Run every 15 minutes as long as needed / until both lots are full.

 

These locations have been set up due to one area at the schools will be blocked off due to the new elementary / Jr. High schools construction.

There will be a lot of Raceland fans in our area tomorrow night that don't usually wear orange. This is a toss-up game and a great opportunity for the Rams to break through and earn their first December game.

I am leaning pretty strongly toward the Rams getting the win in this one. I hope I didn't jinx it for the Rams fans. I have not been good at picking Rams playoff wins over the years.
