I picked my Rams but will say that this will not be a 2td or more game / win. Raceland players are going to have to play another "leave it all on the field" effort as they had last week to come out with a win.

 

Raceland by less than a td ...probably a three point game or less.

I hate to say it but Pikeville rolls.

What kind if kicker does Pikeville have? That was a big difference in the game last week. If Raceland doesnt kick a field goal, its a tie ball game on that final drive. Which changes thinga tremendously.

Pikeville had two linemen return last Friday that were on the injury list. Great to see them back at full strength. Still no word on our starting center going down in the game Friday. Pray that he will be ok. He's just a soph., and has done a great job to this point. As far as I know, everyone is health at this point. Btw, the back up center did a good job. A few high balls, but Qb Conner Roberts was alert and athletic enough to overcome that.

Pikeville hasn't kicked any field goals that much this season, but when he has, I think it's been pretty successful.

Racelands kicker, doesnt have a huge leg, but he is pretty accurate. I think his long is in the low 40s, not bad, and is definitely a crucial part of the offense. If he doesnt connect last week on both all xps and the fg in the first half, its a tie ball game. The last time these two teams met, a field goal sealed the deal if im not mistaken. Punting game is pretty good as well. Be it Dalton or Will. Two different style punters, but both can get the job done. Offensese, imo, look to be about the same. Defense, I give the edge to Raceland. Special teams I give the edge to Raceland. But no one gets this far without having a few tricks up their sleeve and aces left to throw around. Can not wait to watch this ball game.

One interesting note / notes on the Pikeville / Raceland series .....although this has never been an ongoing or annual game between these two, I believe that I am right in saying that regardless of if or where either team was ranked, the home team has won. I can only think of a couple of regular season games between the Rams and Panthers. One being in the 80's when a Bill Tom Ross coached Raceland team upset a top ranked Pikeville team, I can't recall if they were #1 that particular week or not but I know that it was very high. One of the Panthers state championships may have been in that season or the one prior to the meeting.

Anyway .....none of the above has a thing to do with this Friday, was just something I thought of. Maybe Ram or another poster from Raceland or Pikeville may recall and give more info.

If you hate to say it, Pikeville will say it for you (on the field). Pikeville will not roll, but will win in a close one. Playing the tough out of district schedule that they have has helped to bring this far, and maybe farther

In the 1989 PCB, Pikeville defeated the Rams coached by Bill Tom Ross. That Pikeville team was coached by the legendary Hillard Howard who went on that season to win the 3rd state championship in a row. Now, Pikeville being the home team in 2012 (I think) was the playoffs where the Panthers did lose to Raceland. Cannot remember the final score, but Pikeville was the home team that was defeated that year.

Pikeville at home defeated Raceland in the Region semis in 2012. Raceland at home defeated Pikeville for the Region Championship in 2013.
