  1. Pikeville - 46 5:02 left in the game on a running clock. HC - 0
  2. Pikeville subbing freely, starting about halfway through the 1st half. Hoping to see Freshman Issac McNamee light up the board a time or two in the 2nd half. This young man is so talented to be as young as he is. Holy Cross' achilles heel in this game has been bad snaps.…. something like ten bad snaps over the qb's head, just in the 1st qtr.
  3. That is correct. One Senior played offense, and the other played defense. Wyatt Battaile had a knee injury in football practice before the season got underway. He wanted to return, but his injury was just too bad to take that chance. Really good qb that was gifted at running the ball, or passing it. He was healed up by basketball season, and will enroll at Louisville this fall.
  4. Pikeville had a fine off season with lots of enthusiasm, great turnout in the weight room. Pikeville has all the tools it needs with the talent, heart, coaching, and fantastic fan support. Imo, the Panthers just need to work their butts off in practice, and take it one game at a time, and keep their eyes on the goal (Kroger Field). Look for a great season for the Pikeville Panthers by taking it a step further.
  5. Agree. Many smaller schools in the East are still solvent at this time for the reasons you mentioned. however, there is caution for several small school systems due to a sharp downturn in the coal industry. That industry is making a modest comeback as of now, but is it enough to keep these small schools open ? Time will tell. Anything short of diversification of industry in these communities have to be a concern. One key word you mentioned is "manage". That factor is so important. '
  6. The kid was a gamer. Very impressed with his run ability. Any team would benefit greatly with him in the lineup. Best of luck to him in his future endeavors.
  7. Pikeville was in the same boat as Raceland. No one gave them a chance all season long. If not for shooting themselves in the foot with so many silly mistakes, then who knows ? 1-A East is going to be fun to watch next season as lots of talent returns to some teams.
  8. Congrats to the Golden Eagles. Bring back the gold to Johnson Co. next week. Pikeville Panthers will be pulling for y'all. Good luck at state !!
  9. Congrats Corbin Redhounds. Must have been one heck of a game. Now, go on to Kroger Field and bring back the gold ! Pikeville Panthers will be pulling for y'all, and the Raceland Rams !!
  10. Congrats to the Rams on a great win. Will be pulling for you in Lexington. First of the season, didn't think either the Rams or Panthers would have made it this far. Rams finally put it together late in the season when it counted, and the Panthers with all of it's youth grew up fast and really came together with all of the talent it has. Taking a look in the future of single A, this Pikeville program is going to be scary good for the foreseeable future. Here's one Pikeville fan that will be cheering you on at Kroger Field. Good luck and great game Rams !!
  11. Go to EKBtv.com. It's possible they might livestream it. I do know that it will be replayed Saturday evening @ 8:pm, and Sunday @ 4:pm and @ 8:pm.
  12. Hope so. Lot of good history between these two programs.
  13. In the 1989 PCB, Pikeville defeated the Rams coached by Bill Tom Ross. That Pikeville team was coached by the legendary Hillard Howard who went on that season to win the 3rd state championship in a row. Now, Pikeville being the home team in 2012 (I think) was the playoffs where the Panthers did lose to Raceland. Cannot remember the final score, but Pikeville was the home team that was defeated that year.
  14. If you hate to say it, Pikeville will say it for you (on the field). Pikeville will not roll, but will win in a close one. Playing the tough out of district schedule that they have has helped to bring this far, and maybe farther
  15. Pikeville hasn't kicked any field goals that much this season, but when he has, I think it's been pretty successful.
  16. Pikeville had two linemen return last Friday that were on the injury list. Great to see them back at full strength. Still no word on our starting center going down in the game Friday. Pray that he will be ok. He's just a soph., and has done a great job to this point. As far as I know, everyone is health at this point. Btw, the back up center did a good job. A few high balls, but Qb Conner Roberts was alert and athletic enough to overcome that.
  17. That's true Bac. A lot of good talent returns for both teams. A lot of talent coming up from the 7th and 8th grade level. 1-A east is gonna be even more interesting next season.
  18. Next season Pikeville starts a run for a while to come. This 1-A program returns every one. There are three Seniors currently on this season's roster. Two don't start. So ALL starters return except one. This is the 8th grade team from a couple yrs. ago that came so close to winning the 8th grade championship against CAL. Just one mistake cost them the game. What beat Hazard Friday evening was basically Jr's., Soph.,and Freshmen. Win or lose at Raceland, the future looks very bright for this group of young men. So, no. Don't think Beechwood's got a lock on it after this season. Pikeville will have something to say.
  19. No. Seriously doubt it. Hope i'm wrong and as much as I would like to see him playing at that position, don't really think he will. QB Conner Roberts is doing a great job in place of Battaile. This is his first varsity start at QB, and he's really playing like a four yr. starter.
  20. No. Don't think he will at this point. I seriously doubt if he'll take another snap this season. May be wrong, but from what I see and know, don't think he will. Hate it for him, as he was a stud and more than proved himself. The good thing is, QB Conner Roberts has developed into a stud himself this season. VERY accurate passer, and plenty of speed on the run. As well as he's been playing, it's hard to realize this season is his first varsity start.
  21. Don't know much about Raceland, except the fact that they have to be a real good football team to knock off a high powered Paintsville team tonight. I do know their depth chart looks pretty good, and they have the numbers to confirm that. Not bad for a class 1-A team. I think Pikeville has around 40 - 43 something like that. The thing with Pikeville is, they may be small in numbers, but everyone is so young, and they have built depth all season long. Playing a tough out of district schedule has been a plus for them too. Gotta go with my Panthers on the road in this one, but like I posted twice this week, anything can happen on any given football night.
