  1. Congrats Panthers on the tough win. Hazard has two good RB, plus Blair at the QB position. I really think Hazard won the battle in the trenches, but Pikeville kept their heads and were pretty accurate in the passing game. Pikeville QB Conner Roberts played his position tonight like he was a four yr. starter, instead of his first year varsity start at that position. Good to know he'll be back for the next couple of seasons too. Want to say congrats to Hazard on the successful season you've had. Y'all are one tough football team.
  2. Good summation Bac. Both teams showed resolve, character, and good coaching to fight back til the horn like both did. Truly believe this one will be the "mother of all football wars in the mtns". tomorrow evening. Just hope some good media outlets will cover it.
  3. I'll put my 2 cents in Bac. Yes, I think so. In fact at this point in the season, I think just about anything is possible on any given night for just about any team still in it.. The question is, has Pikeville improved to the point to where they can pull off the upset. They have improved since mid season. One, if not the toughest schedule in 1-A hasn't hurt a bit either. Really believe this game could go either way, knowing that Pikeville is a much better team than the last meeting of these two.
  4. Pikeville as a team has improved significantly since mid season. Their run/pass game is peaking at the right time. The defense is getting better by the week, something that was sorely needed since the early season. No doubt Hazard has improved as well, with a tough defense and a solid offense with the Blair kid at the helm. Reece and Fletcher will be tough to bring down as well. Imo, this will be a close and tough game for both teams. Look for the Panthers to come away with the win.
  5. Three running tds., three passing tds led to the Jackets demise. Panthers played lights out D in this game as Williamsburg had no answer.by
  6. Panthers win. Look for a running clock in this one.
  7. Panthers gonna be a tough out in class A East. They're starting to peak at the right time. Conner Roberts developing into an effective QB, not to mention QB Wyatt Battaile possibly coming back into the picture. Conner wright, now at the NG position is doing a great job. Just hope everyone remains healthy as far as this ride will take them. Congrats Panthers !
  8. Fwiw, Grundy came in tonight ranked # 8 in Va. class A, and a record of 5 - 2, Per Cal preps. Their wins were against Lebanon, Hurley, Twin Valley, JJ Burton, and Honaker. Not powerhouses, but pretty good competition. Grundy is no slouch of a team, and don't think they would be rated # 8 if that was the case. Pikeville's D stepped up tonight and closed this game with a 41 - 13 score. Grundy's score came late against Pikeville's second and third teams.
  9. It tells me that Paintsville should be glad they didn't have to deal with the Smith brothers. Looks like a healthy Bulldawg team would have won that battle.
  10. If Pikeville can play with the intensity and discipline they did Friday evening, then the Panthers will be victorious. Don't know much about Grundy, other than they have a strong run game. Panthers have turned it up a notch or two late in the season, and adding a healthy QB Wyatt Battaile back into the mix will just make them even better. Jr. QB Conner Roberts has done a great job filling in for Battaile during his recovery period. The good thing about Roberts is he can throw it, run it, and catch it. This makes makes them a dual threat.
  11. Gonna be a tough challenge for the young Panthers, but they'll be ready. In a close game the Panthers win it. Panthers-28 Tigers -24
  12. Imo, it will be very close, and could go either way.
  13. Hazard is a very good team, and they have a very good chance to accomplish that. Jmo.
  14. I'm going with: BEECHWOOD PAINTSVILLE WILLIAMSBURG
  15. Really surprised at the score. Picked Beechwood to win, but at a wider gap than this.
  16. Gotta pick the Black Bears in this one. Probably a little too much for the Dawgs.
  17. If Pikeville comes out the gate and plays with the fire they did last Friday, then it COULD be a pretty close game. How close ? We'll have to wait and see. Depth may be an issue for the Panthers at this point in the game, but one thing is for sure, Pikeville will give them all they want with all they have.
  18. My mistake. 65 yd. td. Just got through watching the game on EKBtv.
  19. That was an 80 yd. td run by Jackson Hensley for sure, but the stat provider that I've had access to doesn't show it in the box score either. Must be a problem with their software.
  20. Pikeville Jr. RB Zack Roberts rushed for 196 yds. on 7 carries and 3 tds. tonight against # 9 Covington Holy Cross. His first varsity start at the RB position.
  21. This Panther team is very young, with only one starter back on D, and return one starter on the 0 line. RB Zack Roberts had 195 rushing yds,(unofficially). New QB Peyton Blair did a fine job in his first varsity game. Just a total team effort. Congrats Panthers, going to be a tough one next week with Lex. Christian.
