Can Pikeville beat Hazard?

Featured Replies

What's your opinion? Why and how they can?

I'll put my 2 cents in Bac. Yes, I think so. In fact at this point in the season, I think just about anything is possible on any given night for just about any team still in it.. The question is, has Pikeville improved to the point to where they can pull off the upset. They have improved since mid season. One, if not the toughest schedule in 1-A hasn't hurt a bit either. Really believe this game could go either way, knowing that Pikeville is a much better team than the last meeting of these two.

I think they can too. The quarterback change last time caught hazard off guard and it really helped the offense. This game was 14-14 at halftime. Pikeville could/should have had 1 more touchdown after fumbling on the 1. But Pikeville ended up scoring again to make up for it. Hazard had penalties on their very first drive that had them backed up after driving to the 20 before Pikeville stopping them on downs. But the second half opened up with Hazard extending the lead to 10 24-14. Then Pikeville didn't fold and scored on the next drive then it was back and fourth after that. Hazard went up 31-20 then Pikeville run the kickoff back to make it 31-26. Hazard then drove to make it 38-26 and that's how the game ended as Pikeville drove the field to try to cut into the lead but was intercepted on 4th and goal.

I told a Pikeville fan after the game i would hate to play them again in the playoffs. They have definitely improved but I have to it defensively. The offense was no problem after the Quarterback switch it was stopping teams.

Hazard rebounded nicely beating Phelps then with taking Paintsville to the wire in a 12-7 loss. They beat Leslie County and Whitley after that. Whitley was an excellent game to prepare for the playoffs as they can both pass and throw it similar to a Pikeville team which they would face again.

Hazard needs to come out and get stops early and keep Pikeville out of the endzone so they can't build any MO. Hazard did really well not to panic early after Pikeville jumped up 7-0 and then 14-7. This game is going to be an all out battle and we know Pikeville will not let up until the horn sounds.

Good summation Bac. Both teams showed resolve, character, and good coaching to fight back til the horn like both did. Truly believe this one will be the "mother of all football wars in the mtns". tomorrow evening. Just hope some good media outlets will cover it.

Fewer games should mean more coverage I hope.
