What’s your thoughts? Raceland is 0-2 as far as I know in the game with both losses to Williamsburg in 2013 and 2014. They just got over the Paintsville hump after a few years of falling short.

Got to admit, I have not seen them this year. Watched twice last year and was very impressed with their size, how hard they hit and how tough they were defensively. Believe this coaching staff will get them over the hump. Homefield advantage with no tough bus ride will make a difference this time.

 

With Pikeville not turning in stats to KHSAA, it is hard to know much about this "ghost" team.

I am leaning toward Raceland getting over the hump to that much coveted title game. I hope I didn't jinx it for you Rams fans. I have said that a couple times in recent years and it did not work out that way.

There has been been 5 different teams make it to the finals since 2007. Out of all those teams the team that beat Hazard played for the title.

From a pure statistical standpoint, I have to say they have a better chance this season then in years past. I think they matchup well with Pikeville and, although Pikeville can obviously win, I think the Rams have a better shot this year then in years past. Plus, Raceland is undefeated versus Pikeville at home.

 

Not sure any of that make any difference, but that's my reasoning.

That is definitely an interesting stat for the west side as well....

Here’s is something else I’ve noticed and kind of slapped me after I think about it.

 

2015 Pikeville made a Quarterback change about the same time and it paid off big time for them. Im getting that deja vu feeling. I’m not saying the same results will happen but it possible.. The difference in that 2015 and this team is they had a big work horse in the backfield. The Roberts kid is a solid back tough and runs hard but not no where near a Daric Pugh type kid. But they do have as many weapons in the passing game. The defense isn’t no where near either but they’ve bent but not broke.

 

But if Pikeville is to win this game against Raceland they will need to stop the Rams a lot better than they did Hazard. You don’t see many games where a team controls the trenches and loses.

I think they can and hope they do.

I think they can as well as long as they are not satisfied with getting by Paintsville. I don't think Coach Salmons will allow them to do that. I personally think Paintsville was better than Pikeville this season.

It also looks good for the 1A teams that Mayfield moved to 2A.

Yes. They can. Will they? That rwmains to be seen. Im still shocked that we are looking at Raceland, Pikeville, and Campbellsive in the semis. I dont think anyone of us saw that coming.
